    LMS 8.1.1 install, won't start?

Due to trouble I recently had running LMS on an older MacMini, which worked fine for years, I decided to try using my library on a newer iMac running 10.11,
    by installing LMS 8.1.1

The install appeared to go easily, with no apparent problems, but despite many attempts to "start" LMS, and the program indicates that it "is starting", after
awhile it simply reports that "the server is stopped".

Am I missing something here? This is the newest version and I tried some older ones that I also had downloaded, to no success.

"newer" is relative :-). 10.11 is pretty old. And even if you get LMS to
run you should try to update the OpenSSL libraries, as those installed
    must be ancient.

Anyway: please try to run the following in a terminal:

    /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl

If it's complaining about the log file not existing, or LMS not having
permissions to create it, then download the following file, extract and
run it. It should fix the permissions:

I did give this a try, with no success. Even erased drive and reinstalled OS. The terminal search (as well as a look through "Preference Panes" located nothing for Logitech or squeezebox. The LMS Permissions fix would not run when downloaded from DropBox as apparently it is not for Mac and no application to open it.
