    Sequential alarms not working

    Hi Guys,
I have an issue where I set 2 sequential alarms for my Boom, but only the first alarm works.
First alarm is set for 6:30 (one of the ambient noise scapes, Heavy Rain)
The second alarm is set for 7:00 (item in the playlist)
Alarm duration is set for 20 minutes, so my expectation is that the first alarm will sound from 6:30 to 6:50
Then the second alarm will sound from 7:00 to 7:20

    But

    The second alarm never sounds.

I have had a look at the server log
Here is yesterdays log ( server powers down everyday at 23:30 and restarts the next morning at 06:00 )

    [21-06-13 06:01:27.0838] main::init (384) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1465358341, Fri Jun 10 04:06:20 UTC 2016) perl 5.008008 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi

    23:30:05 squeezeboxserver_safe stopped.

The fail to connect to SSL ? not sure what that is or if that is affecting the operation of the alarms?

There does not appear to be anything regarding the alarm in the logs.

I have set logging to debug the alarm, will see what that turns up tomorrow.

You have a very old system with no https support (that is the SSL message) and so will have difficulty playing many stations and installing plugins.

So you should update LMS to 8.1.* and depending on the OS etc also install the necessary support modules.

LMS has had many bug fixes in alarms since 7.9.0 so it is probably pointless spending time debugging an old system especially if a new fix is needed it will be in 8.2.

I have tried updating to later version many times ( currently running 7.9.0 - 1465358341 on a ReadyNAS pro OS: Netgear RAIDiator - EN - utf8
Platform: i686-linux ) but it just fails to work, so I have to downgrade back to 7.9 to get it working again.

When 8.2 is released I will give upgrading another go, but do not hold much hope of it working.

    Thanks for your reply.

The last version I tried to instal was logitechmediaserver-7.9.4-1601565762-i386-readynas and it would not work on my system.

I have not yet tried any of the 8.* yet and am reluctant to try given the drama I had trying to downgrade back to 7.9.0 last time. For some reason it was so difficult that I originally thought that I had bricked my server.
After much swearing and teeth gnashing, I did get 7.9.0 back working again and vowed that I would never try and upgrade again.

So i've been having a play....
If I set a THIRD alarm, it works. very weird !

    alarm 1 = 10:00 = ambient sound = works
alarm 2 = 10:05 = soma fm radio station = doesn't work ( radio station displays on the screen but is paused )
    alarm 3 = 10:10 = soma fm radio station (same as 2 ) = works as expected

I'll reset the times for tomorrow morning and see what happens.

I seem to remember that if sequential alarms were set then when the second alarm was triggered the first alarm would stop but the second wouldn't play. What happens if you set the second alarm time a minute later so the first alarm has definitely timed out before the second alarm is triggered?

I had the two alarms separated by some 5 minutes

looks like if I set a third alarm, that one triggers as expected.

I just tried setting two alarms on my Touch with a timeout of 5 minutes.
    1 7.20 Rain and thunder
    2 7.30 Radio 2
Both alarms worked fine. Maybe a Boom is different.
Then I set the timeout to 60 minutes and set the same two alarms to
    1 7.42
    2 7.45
This time when the second alarm fired it was paused.
So if the first alarm times out before the second alarm fires it works. If the second alarm fires while the first alarm is still active then it acts like I remembered and doesn't work.
Are you absolutely sure that the first alarm had stopped before the second alarm fired?
Your test case with 5 minutes between alarms definitely wouldn't work if the timeout was 20 minutes but the third alarm would fire.

Thanks for getting back so quick.
TBH that detail got lost in the noise. lots going on here ATM.

    Trying again

    I just set 3 alarms
barn fire , soma FM, Blue Henry for 4:55 , 4:57 and 4:58
Alarm time out set to 40 minutes.
Each alarm started at allocated time and kicked the previous alarm

Looks like it is working correct.

So i'll set the alarms for 6:30 and 7:00 tomorrow mornign and see what happens

Now, the only proviso is my server shuts down at 11pm and starts up at 6am.

Not sure if this is causing the issue and once it gets up and running, the alarms behave themselves ?

What is the alarm timeout set to now? If you leave it at 40 minutes your second alarm will not work.
