    Strange crashes with piCorePlayer

    Hi,

LMS 8.1.1 on RPi4, piCorePlayer on RPi3 with external Wifi (WiPi),
    squeezelite.

I sometimes run into the following.

While playing an album on Spotify (using Spotty) playing stops unexpectedly
but always at the end of a track. As far as I can see piCorePlayer (not
just squeezelite) has crashed and doesn't come back until I reset (power
    flip) it.

I have this with piCorePlayer 6.0 and after upgrading to 7.0.

    I have no clue...

Before rebooting ... can you connect via SSH to see what is and is not running?

No. AFAICS the system crashes, not the squeezelite player. No moving
    lights, no wifi, no connection.

I have had a similar very rare experience. Not sure if its relevant but may be some help

I have had 3 times in the last couple of months a similar crash.

    Don't use spotty but was always when sync'd with another 3 players 2 x pCP 2 x SB3 total

All 3 times a pCP crashed with a complete lock up no SSH possible Jivelite screen froze, not the same pCP every time.

Could not think how to diagnose and is/was rare enough to ignore TBH

Did a brief search to see if remote syslog was a possibility but does not seem to be.

    Jeff

pCP 7 (clean install always) and LMS 8.1.2

    Usage: syslogd [OPTIONS]

    System logging utility
(this version of syslogd ignores /etc/syslog.conf)

            -n Run in foreground
            -R HOST[:PORT] Log to HOST:PORT (default PORT:514)

-O FILE Log to FILE (default: /var/log/messages, stdout if -)
-s SIZE Max size (KB) before rotation (default 200KB, 0=off)

Is there a way to pipe squeezelite and/or jivelite logs to syslog ?

I don't think either have those options OOTB, but you could run your own scripts.
