    Amplifier recommendations for "new" Touch

Got a new (to me) Touch yesterday and while it was squirrely out of the box , getting the community firmware updates make it work like new . Thanks for keeping this alive!

I have not had a proper stereo in many years. I see very inexpensive rec/amps on Amazon but I am sure there is some kind of catch.

We have a bookshelf/desk/cabinet next to our fireplace and that is where we have a cheap all in one located currently.

Want to replace it with the touch and a rec/amp or just an amp. I don't need something super powerful or expensive but I don't want junk ether.

What are good brands to look for these days??

    Thanks

Depends om ypur budget. This forum might not be the right place to ask.
The Audiophile section would be better.

agree. But note your budget range. Things could cost less than $100 or more than $50,000.

Well here is what I am talking about on Amazon. This has to be junk:

What is a decent brand for say up to $300-500?

Just go for anything that catches your eye within your budget & that has
    reviews that you identify wirh.

I have three Touchs in different areas of the house, with very different
amps & sets of speakers. I love it but it certainly isn't perfect. It just
works for me. Especially when everything is synced..

The least expensive thing I'd buy is a Sony STR-DH190 or Yamaha R-S202; both around $150.

The Loxjie A30 is another interesting option.

You could also consider second hand. I am still using an Audiolab 8000A bought second hand in the 90s.

Thanks that is what I was looking for. But is it worth it to hold out for something with digital inputs?

The Loxie looks nice but it looks like it has been discontinued.

    Thanks

Have you considered active speakers? If it weren't for my turntable and the fact I'm pretty happy with my system I'd go for active speakers and get rid of the amplifier.

On the other hand, I'd recommend these sources to look for the best amplifiers or active speakers:
Audioscience review: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/f...pment_Reviews/ (for instance, look into "Electronics Index" tab and filter for Speaker amplifiers), choose a model that is recommended
    What Hi-Fi: https://www.whathifi.com/awards/2020

Audioscience I trust more, but you cannot go wrong with What hi-fi
