    LMS v7.9.4 all / MiniITX C3 / Jessie 32bit / Perl v5.20.2 / Died Restarting

    hi,

    as per tittle; LMS v7.9.4 all deb / MiniITX C3 / Jessie 32bit / Perl v5.20.2 / Died Restarting

trying now for a week to get this system up and running with no results
used google and reading many posts on lots of forums but haven't found a solution jet

had been reinstalling Debian Jessie a couple times to make sure to have a clean install
tried lot's of LMS versions but found that v7.9.4 did run but it crashes as soon a HTTP connection is being made
this can be with any browser (Chrome / Firefox / Safari) of even nmap to scan the box will kill it

    so what happens?

system is up but dies / restarting when a HPPT connection is being made or nmap port scan

when this happens and the file library.db is been deleted in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/ the server is running again but dies instant when pointing a browser to port 9000

any ideas as i have been running out

    many thanks,

Have you tried running LMS directly (not as a daemon) and see what output you get on the console?

yes, only a message about SSL being old

    :~$ sudo /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --debug server --d_startup -> debug.txt
You're using a rather old version of IO::Socket::SSL (v2.002) - please try to update to at least 2.020 for improved compatibility.
    :~$

    could this be the issue?

    thx

I think you need either an earlier version of Perl for the 32 bit bineries, or run a 64 bit version of Jessie

    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...-DEBIAN-JESSIE

I have had the "died restarting" on 32 bit userland and I think that binary support stopped at perl v5.18 (or something)

It is possible to build the required version, but I failed miserably, despite the valient efforts of other forum members to guide me

    did see this thread before and followed the solution;

    Have you tired running 7.9?
    http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/
    and this

Hi, I just tried 7.9 and it's working now. Thanks
    Best Wishes
was the reason i tried 7.9

bear in mind that the 'died restarts' only starting when making a connection as the box happy runs for days without a crash as long you not connect

I misremembered the perl version number, its 5.28

Ah, right, so LMS works but does not allow a connection.

So that means you can not configure LMS, is that correct ?

    thx for you reply

that's correct so not possible to configure via a browser

i'v got another MiniITX box with a VIA C7 processor and will try that with the same configuration to see if it has anything to do with the VIA C3 processor

    cheers,

Myself (and others) have experienced this behaviour with linstalling LMS on an O2 Joggler.

This is my routine, if you want to try; remove the logitechmediaserver (keeping the prefs and cache)

    Code:
    sudo apt remove logitechmediaserver
    re-install the logitechmediaserver

    Code:
    sudo apt install ./************
once install is finished, go to the LMS web gui, if successful, configure LMS.

If the procedure does not work, then try this, it is specific to the Joggler, but all you have to do, is look in /etc/fstab and see if you have a similar line.

    comment out

    tmpfs /var/log tmpfs noatime,size=16M 0 0

    in

    sudo nano /etc/fstab

    then reboot

    hope this is useful

will have a look if that works

    Update:

Have decided to look around for an 64bit miniITX board and will then try again
