I found that you have to do a Manual update in pcp to get it to switch over to the new version. So, looking at the stable.xml, it showed 8.1.2, but checking for updates showed no new version, although I was on the last 8.1.1 nightly. Just doing a manual update in pcp pulls 8.1.2, and I assume will now pull the 8.1.2 nighties.
It seems like the "is there a new nightly" check doesn't work across versions, but just doing one manual update does the switch.

Lms has never(at least a very long time) changed version numbers through the internal update notifier.
It will always be a manual step.piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.

It would if you stuck with "the release version" (currently 8.1.1).
You'd then get the next release automatically. But you should never have
gone from dev branches to dev branches beyond a release.
