Well I've got my pi and screen and case and it's running picoreplayer. I've ordered the dac 2 pro but it's not here yet. Where's a good guide on setting up picoreplayer?

I used that guide along with a youtube video I found and it's working, all pretty easy to do, thanks! I have a couple of questions still I haven't found answers to. First off there is no entry under 'Audio output device settings' for the DAC 2 pro HAT I've ordered. Analog is working fine for the headphone out of the pi but I'm not sure what to do when the HAT arrives.



I found 'Update Squeezelite Extensions' and I'm tempted to do it but I'm not sure if that will help anything or if the piCorePlayer image I downloaded will have all the newest already.



Update or Full update or leave well alone if you don't know what it does?

According to the Hifiberry homepage, the "DAC2 Pro" uses the same overlay as the "DAC+ Pro":

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus

Hence, you select "Hifiberry DAC+ (and Pro, Amp2)" as audio output device for the "DAC2 Pro".

Regarding the update option: I would do it only if you have problems with your current version.

The DAC/amp HATs do seem a good idea for some projects but I want to have 100wpc RMS in this room...

I just noticed HiFiBerry has a 100w/channel AMP100 in beta now, cool!
Can't keep up with them... always something new every time I visit.

It's up on the wall and working but without the DAC and I'm really pleased with it so far. The DAC arrived today so I have to see how that affects the fitting. I'm considering using the vesa mounting holes on the back instead of the included tilting base. Here is a photo of it on the wall:

That does look useful if a little large for any existing case. Hopefully they are developing a housing for it.

I attached the DAC2 pro and changed the Squeezelite output to 'Hifiberry DAC+ (and Pro, Amp2)' and restarted PcP and now it says Squeezelite is not running. Faulty HAT or did I do something wrong?

So the error is 'failed to find sndrpihifiberry (42)'. I suspect a hardware fault myself.
