Nope. Still got it.
Can I check my logic. If I want to get my Internet connection out of the way, do I need to hot spot the lms server or picoreplayer or both?
Is its lms then its going to be 'exciting'

If you want to get more info on the "request without clientid" then enable logging (WebUI Settings/Advanced/Logging) network.cometd to DEBUG - it will generate a dump for ALL cometd requests. Be careful it will generate a lot more entries in log file so only set to DEBUG before test and set back to ERROR after test. Ideally only have one player connected to LMS.

I think it might be the Squeeze Ctrl app or Material skin!
I've turned off all apps and web pages and we've got two players working perfectly.
My head hurts

Still an issue, every 3rd or 4th song is being cut off with something like 10-30 seconds left to go. (Only Tidal, local music is fine)
So I thought I would try a different LMS server and booted up PCP on a spare Pi 4. It's a 6.1.0 image from a few days ago. I installed LMS on it and Tidal played OK from my Kitchen PCP. But a Touch would not get any sound.
Then I realised that the LMS installed is 7.9.3 dated August, which is odd because the PCP instructions say it will default to installing 8.0 these days.
I've tried to ssh in and use the upgrade script but it's refusing to upgrade:
Code:tc@piCorePlayer:/tmp$ sudo ./lms-update.sh -mm 8.0.0 -s -r -u ........ Copying and Running script to tmp so we can automatically reload LMS later Current Version is: 7.9.3 r1597753178. Connecting to www.mysqueezebox.com (63.34.162.152:80) tmp.PV0pWl 100% |*****************************************************************************************| 2 0:00:00 ETA Revision 7.9.3 r1597753178 is the latest. No Update Needed.

Cheers
So, I (finally) have LMS running on PCP 8.0.0 from last night's build and Tidal is rock steady.
So I'm looking at LMS on Windows being the issue.
It's a powerful, modern desktop Win10 machine doing very little.
Any ideas on what to look for in the logs/event viewer etc. are welcome.
E.g the HTTPS/network libraries that were recently built?
Quite happy to keep digging into this, I hate not knowing the root cause.
