Sudden Static Noise in between tracks

I had cross-fade and smart cross-fade enabled for years with no issues then tried fade in - fade out and the white noise issues began. It didn't happen on every track but it was repeatable on the affected tracks. Now I turn off fading completely.

Yes I think I will just stick with Fading turned off. Now I did modify the firmware of both Touches a while back to accommodate a Custom Clock Helper template I had created. However one Touch had that modified firmware for over a year without issue. Looking at the server log there is an ERROR message at the time of the noise related to Custom Clock Helper (see first post) so that could be the issue

his "noise" may not be related to your "noise" but it is on a touch, and he resolved it by reinstalling the firmware

That sounds like a different issue as it was occurring even when listening to radio. This one only occurs at end of a local track.

It's now 5 months since I re-installed the firmware and the Touch has been rock solid since, no more sudden bursts of that incriminating noise at loud volume. Worth a try for you, it worked perfectly for me.

I will give a reset on the firmware if I have more problems, but prefer not to as it will erase my own changes to the firmware that were done in concert with Custom Clock helper

Yes, the explanation was given on GitHub or on another thread here I think. You should disable cross-fade when sampling rate is different.

I haven't had any further problems since following Philippe's advise
