Does Github cost money these days?
An alternative could be GitLab (I'm a user).
Cheers,
Claus

Github Organisation seems to be free - at least for open source projects.
There are add-ons that cost though.Paul Webster

Same here :-(. I can unfortunately also not help with development, but I think having one place at GitHub where all LMS related things can befound is a great idea. However, if free webspace, databases or whatever is needed, that can be installed on linux servers, I am able to support.
Regarding the name: Listeners Music System (LMS) is the idea I had spontaniously….

That might indeed be helpful. I believe we should set something up to
eg. monitor plugins for changes and send out notifications to admins in
case of changes etc. Not sure we can use GH Actions for the builds, as
not only are these pretty heavy (several hundred MBs per build), but
also require rather specific build environments. Unless I make today's
build hosts "runners".

Is there value in keeping the name as close to the present name as possible? Without violating anybody's trademark, obviously. If so, my suggestion is Logical Music [System | Server]. But just LMS Music System would also be a good choice. Another recursive name like LAME or GNU.
LMS 8 nightly; 3 Squeezelite players connected by powerline ethernet; 5 wireless players connected via Airplay Bridge; 1 SqueezeAmp player
no high-end or esoteric audio gear
1 Squeezebox Radio (upgraded UE Smart Radio) now mostly retired

Or hark back to the old days ... SlimServer (which is what is still used) or SqueezeCenter (which I remember it being for a while).
