I was wondering whether it was time to set up an organization on Github
consolidating various aspects of the LMS ecosystem:
* plugin repositories today are managed on an old Logitech owned
subversion server, plus some custom script on my own host
* only I can update that repository file
* some orphaned plugins are floating around the net, where previous
owners would be happy to hand off ownership
* sooner or later LMS code could probably move, too...
Thoughts?
Any great ideas for a name? Any volunteers? (I have my ideas for the
latter of course ;-))

I think it would be great if everything was in one world.
If Logitech ever dropped LMS support, would all of the Logitech branding get dropped from the interfacing?
Pretty sure everyone knows the LMS acronym. Any reason to not just use LMS as part of the organization name?piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.

Even pCP? "everything" is a big word :-)

I have no clue. Sooner or later I guess yes.

LMS as an acronym without the real name might be ok. But to have
Logitech in the name would be a problem.

I think this is a great idea. I would love to see a more open org for development.
I'm happy to help with things like CI pipelines and such to get automated testing/builds working.

great idea. I can't help with any technology/programing, but I'm happy to chip in money to support any costs of hosting, etc.

That might indeed be helpful. I believe we should set something up to
eg. monitor plugins for changes and send out notifications to admins in
case of changes etc. Not sure we can use GH Actions for the builds, as
not only are these pretty heavy (several hundred MBs per build), but
also require rather specific build environments. Unless I make today's
build hosts "runners".

I've started another thread to discuss possible workflows for the plugin repository update. Would be great if you could chime in on https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...ry-Maintenance - thanks!
