    LMS 8.0 & stream stops

    Hello,

I'm using LMS 8.0 on Windows 10 PRO ver. 2004.
I update quite often to LMS 8.0 latest nightly builds.
I found quite recently that the music stream stops (playing FIP or Radio Paradise) very often (may be 5 min, 15 but never plays more than 45/60 min) with the latest versions.
I use Daphile players and Squeezelite-X with the same issue (different hardware).

The versions I found having this problem are (at least):

    - LogitechMediaServer-8.0.0-1601030156
    - LogitechMediaServer-8.0.0-1601129375

When I revert back to a version I kept from August:

    - LogitechMediaServer-8.0.0-1598245934

I do not face the problem and the stream is playing without interruption.

    Any idea?
Thanks for your great work !
    Best
    Thierry

Would be good to know which particular streams you are playing.
For example FIP is available as HTTP/MP3 and HLS/AAC - Paradise as MP3 and FLAC.

Your LMS server.log might have some clues - but might need an increase in logging level for streaming to help.

FYI - we play FIP/FIP Monde, France Inter and BBC Radio 4 for hours on end without problems.

Also are the streams proxied and/or synced with other player ? If one player in a sync group has bad network connection to LMS - can cause delays.

Finally, my hobbyhorse - there have been lots of weird problems with https and Windows. Just recently nightly Windows builds have had some Ralphy experimental build of the SSL related libraries - this could be causing the effects seen from August.

Any message in server.log - typically timeouts.
    edit:

    Hi bpa,

Two players are synced (Daphile) and the others are Windows 10 / Squeeezlite-X not sync.

    Answer is not clear.

Do you get the problem if the players are not synced ?
Are the players proxied ? (i.e. for each player check WebUI Settings/Player/Audio/Streaming method)

    Sorry for not being precise.
I get the error for synced an standalone players.
The synced players are based on Daphile and the standalone are Windows 10 using Squeezelite-X
None of the player are proxied.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
Just tried the latest version (LogitechMediaServer-8.0.0-1601380107) and found that the stream for FIP (AAC) is unable to play more thant 90 sec / 3 min.
Revert back to LogitechMediaServer-8.0.0-1598245934 and it works...
    Thanks.

OK. Only do test with unsynced players.

    Any message in server.log ?

If player are playing a http/MP3 or http/AAC stream direct (i.e.not https. not proxied and not synced) then the stream goes direct from source to player and LMS has no part in playing the stream. In which case the version of LMS should make no difference and the problem is elsewhere in the network.

So please post the full URLs that are actually being played and stopping so that they can be checked whether it is https or being redirected to https (may not be obvious from a playlist URL)

For fun ... try FIP (HLS) and FIP (MP3) - assuming you are using my plugin and you have bpa's PlayHLS plugin installed and up to date.
