Pulling my hair out here... I've been running LMS + Spotty for a year and it's been pretty much rock solid. As of yesterday, with no known system changes to either LMS or my players, occasional Spotify songs are "stuttering"/hiccuping. Basically playback will stop for a few seconds every 10-15 seconds and then resume. Happens more (but not exclusively) when players are synch'd, and this can/does cause synch'd players to go out of sync. Doesn't occur with local content.

It is very intermittent. That is, it doesn't happen on every song. If a song does it, it will do it for the whole song. If a song doesn't do it, it won't do it at all for the entire song. If I scan around to other songs and then back to a song that was doing it, it very well may play through perfectly the next time.

I've tried everything including debug log inspection, reinstalling spotty, updating piCorePlayers, even rebuilding an entirely fresh LMS docker & config. Still persists. This leads me to wonder if this is some sort of Spotify/API thing that has changed recently.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Try disabling the Spotty -> Ogg streaming in Settings/Advanced/Formats.

Thanks for the quick reply, but no luck. Now playback says "705kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to FLAC)", wheras before it didn't say converted to FLAC (want to make sure I did it right, given it still indicates Ogg).

Additional observation... when it happens, LMS thinks it's playing for about 10 seconds, then the play bar resets to 0:00 and music starts, but then the skipping begins and continues every few seconds.

Are you using the Connect mode, or controlled by LMS? If in Connect
mode, would LMS mode behave better?

Yeah... always use direct as itís more reliable. Just canít even fathom why this would have started all of a sudden. I saw something about ipv6 potentially causing problems but disabling it on my Ubuntu server that hosts LMS didnít fix it.

Does "direct" mean you are playing from LMS?
Are you using default buffers in piCorePlayer?

    Hi @mherger,
Is it possible to "like" a spotify song while playing in LMS? As in the spotify app when you click on "heart" icon (previously "plus" icon iirc)
    - meaning not adding a song to LMS favorites, but marking a song as "liked" on spotify and in effect the song ends up in "Liked Songs" special playlist

Newbie to LMS/spotty/picoreplayer here, all rasp pi based. Big thanks for the work on this as it's excellent. One thing I can't for the life of me work out though is why for most artists I see duplicate entries for releases (albums, singles, etc)? Sometimes there are two duplicates, sometimes three, sometimes just one, and can be mixed within the same artist/album list. These are not albums that I own in my LMS library as well.

I'm accessing via spotty app in LMS and using Material skin.

Is this normal/known behaviour? or have I missed something somewhere?

    Thanks

Wouldn't you see the same when browsing an artist in a Spotify app?
Quite often there "deluxe" releases etc. available.

Not the case as far as I can tell. Seefeel is the artist I'm looking at at the moment, and all their albums except for the oldest two have duplicate entries. For some artists I've seen album titles all in upper case, with duplicates in proper case, that kind of thing. I do see deluxe and remastered versions, but these duplicates I'm seeing are of identical entries.

One thing I've just noticed actually - I'm browsing via my saved artists list, so navigation is:

spotty home > artists > seefeel > albums

If I instead search for seefeel from spotty home, I don't get the same issue:

spotty home > search > search results > albums (this navigation shows single album entries)

spotty home > search > serach results > artists > seefeel > albums (this navigation also shows duplicates)
