    Any Ideas

Life used to be so simple

I would stop the service and start LMS from command line. Perhaps you will see the specific error.

I think the suggestion is to start it interactively ... something similar to
    perl slimserver.pl

If you take a look inside the startup script you might be able to work out the command line as used.

    Well I have looked in

    Code:
    sudo nano /etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver
and I don't have the experience or knowledge to go any further.

    I'll just let it lie

    Well this is embarrassing

I decided this morning to re-download and install the same version.

The web-gui popped up with no problem at all

    Intrigued, I did

    Code:
    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ ls
    logitechmediaserver_8.0.0~1596714594_i386.deb logitechmediaserver_8.0.0~1596793464_arm.deb
to find I had installed the wrong .deb

This is the first time (I can remember ) I have done this

    Sorry for the noise
