Do you have the pins for the i2c Display also?

The resonance speakers give a surprisingly warm and full sound when the unit is placed on a resonant surface like a dining table.(only one shown, I'm waiting on a replacement for the other side).
Nice example ! What is your use of the capacitive button on the front ?

Could you share the full NVS config file please ?

    Hi,
This guy plays mp3 and TTS with an ESP8266 (without any I2S sound card, just an audio jack connected to the ESP8266) :

he use this github library to get audio working which is compatible with the internal DAC of the ESP32 :
    https://github.com/earlephilhower/ESP8266Audio

Just want to have your opinion on it. Do you think that one day we could have a simple esp32 to make a quick and dirty Squeezebox ?

No because of buffering in LMS. The esp32 DAC is 8 bits as well. Now you can use an A1S module and you need nothing but the module

    Wifi problems

I have problems with the wifi and I need help. Rebooting the router didn't change anything.

System is ESP32-WROVER-B on an I2S DAC, config as read from the POST command is
    Code:
    {"timestamp":1601398970574,"config":{"a2dp_ctmt":{"value":"1000","type":33},"a2dp_ctrld":{"value":"500","type":33},"a2dp_dev_name":{"value":"Squeezelite","type":33},"a2dp_sink_name":{"value":"SMSL BT4.2","type":33},"actrls_config":{"value":"","type":33},"airplay_name":{"value":"ESP32-AirPlay-Scarlet","type":33},"airplay_port":{"value":"5000","type":33},"ap_channel":{"value":"1","type":33},"ap_ip_address":{"value":"192.168.4.1","type":33},"ap_ip_gateway":{"value":"192.168.4.1","type":33},"ap_ip_netmask":{"value":"255.255.255.0","type":33},"ap_pwd":{"value":"squeezelite","type":33},"ap_ssid":{"value":"squeezelite-Scarlet","type":33},"autoexec":{"value":"1","type":33},"autoexec1":{"value":"squeezelite -o I2S -b 500:2000 -d all=info -C 30 -W -n \"Scarlet\"","type":33},"bat_config":{"value":"","type":33},"bt_name":{"value":"ESP32-BT-Scarlet","type":33},"bt_sink_pin":{"value":"1234","type":33},"bypass_wm":{"value":"0","type":33},"dac_config":{"value":"model=i2s,bck=25,ws=33,do=32,scl=13,sda=14,i2c=72","type":33},"dac_controlset":{"value":"{\"init\":[ {\"reg\":1,\"val\":12} ],\"poweron\":[ {\"reg\":1,\"val\":12} ]}","type":33},"disable_ps":{"value":"n","type":33},"display_config":{"value":"I2C,width=128,height=64,address=60,driver=SSD1306","type":33},"enable_airplay":{"value":"1","type":33},"enable_bt_sink":{"value":"1","type":33},"host_name":{"value":"Scarlet","type":33},"i2c_config":{"value":"scl=13,sda=14,speed=400000,port=0","type":33},"jack_mutes_amp":{"value":"n","type":33},"led_brightness":{"value":"","type":33},"lms_ctrls_raw":{"value":"n","type":33},"metadata_config":{"value":"","type":33},"ota_erase_blk":{"value":"249856","type":33},"ota_prio":{"value":"6","type":33},"ota_stack":{"value":"10240","type":33},"release_url":{"value":"https://github.com/sle118/squeezelite-esp32/releases","type":33},"rotary_config":{"value":"","type":33},"set_GPIO":{"value":"19=green:1,18=red:1,26=amp,15=ir","type":33},"spdif_config":{"value":"","type":33},"spi_config":{"value":"","type":33},"stats":{"value":"y","type":33},"telnet_block":{"value":"500","type":33},"telnet_buffer":{"value":"40000","type":33},"telnet_enable":{"value":"","type":33},"wifi_smode":{"value":"f","type":33}}}
I tried to update to v142, but the web GUI loses connection quite fast after boot. E.g. I don't get to see the NVS page in full, I only get the green buttons.
v142 plays music, but only after I initalise the DAC by i2cset via serial, b/c dac_controlset doesn't seem to work. Not being able to set NVS via Web gui is a drag prohibiting further debugging atm.
I2C screen update is very sluggish.

v123 is more stable wrt to the web GUI, and I frequently get
    Code:
    wifi: bcn_timout,ap_probe_send_start
but only in "mode: squeezelite" (full log attached).
There are no such log lines when booting into recovery. (same with v142)

I can play music with v123, but when scrolling the news ticker the display regularly freezes and after a second or two all the text rushes to catch up and then continues to scroll.
Also the response to the IR-remote is patchy.

I have a second system, also ESP32-WROVER-B with I2S DAC and there I can at least update to v142 and still access the web gui. But similarly I see a lot of
    Code:
    wifi: bcn_timout,ap_probe_send_start
Again scrolling of the news ticker freezes and then swiftly catches up.

Unfortunately I can not tell when this behavior started.

Do you own more than a single access point?

Also, have you ruled out any hardware changes (including moving the wrover)?

    only one access point.
Well, no, I did move the two wrovers to the test bench so I could hook up the serial interface.
Other than that, no, I haven't touched the devices for weeks.

Changed WiFi channel from 6 to 13 and the
    Code:
     wifi: bcn_timout,ap_probe_send_start
    went away.
Is there a funny country setting in the ESPs Wifi config?

If you live in a crowded space (apartment blocks, etc), then there could be interference?

I added an NVS entry to also disable WiFi power saving mode. If you're saving mode issues, you could try disabling that
