LMS has nothing to do with LCC except for the identical first character :-).
Please install LMS 7.9.3, the DMG file from
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nig...ex.php?ver=7.9
Then run the following in a terminal (single line):
/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl
What would that give you?

Allen,
Please slow down on/give up grasping for help from Apple & Logitech, They are not quite in tune with what you are trying to do...
Do NOT proceed any further with LCC, do NOT un-install Catalina
Do follow Michael's last post instructions (post #11)
If you are struggling with those then come straight back and be specific about what you cannot do or what's going wrong when you try. We (especially Michael) will get you there.

Wow! Thanks for that. I'll give it a fly. What's been happening in my case is that LMS downloads, and clicking on INFO shows that the full package has arrived. But when I click on INSTALL, the Mac goes through the motions and puts up a box with a big green 'tick' and tells me that the installation was successful, but nothing has actually arrived. The log file shows that SIGKILL has blocked all the files, one-by-one.
Anyway, I'll follow your instructions and post a report on what happens, having removed all previous downloads.

I have a MacBook Pro running Catalina with latest updates. I've just downloaded the MacOS version of LMS 7.9.3 that Michael linked to in his post in this thread. It was the pkg file, not a dmg, and is described as Mac OSX.
I was asked whether I wanted to keep or discard the download - I selected "Keep"
I double clicked to open the pkg file. This was refused because it came from an unidentified developer.
I Control-clicked the file (i.e. held control down while clicking the file) - I was then offered the option of opening the file, which I did.
LMS was then installed, with a dialogue box asking for it to be given access to System Preferences. I clicked OK.
I can see that LMS is running by going to localhost:9000 on my browser, and the LMS web interface opened.
This seems pretty straightforward to me, with one or two steps added by the Apple developers in the name of security, and only took a couple of minutes. I don't have any use for LMS on my MacBook, so I'll delete it now :-)

I've tried all that. The problem is that LMS 7.9.3 will download, but won't install, so I can't go any further. I do see the message that SIGKILL has "Exited the installation", line by line when I look in the log file. I'm afraid I'm not hugely computer literate, but try my hardest. I appreciate your assistance. I am sure that it's something that just needs the correct tweak to fix it.

Ok, what's the answer to my question then?

Forget SIGKILL, official support and what not. Just answer our questions
and we'll get there.
(FWIW: I consider myself quite computer literate. But I hardly ever had
to deal with SIGKILL messages in log files over the past 35 years... Not
because they didn't occur, but because the problem usually can be found
at a higher level)

Sadly this doesn't work in my case. I downloaded LMS 7.9.3. pkg but same old problem. All the details of the download are shown if I click on "Info", but I don't get asked if I want to keep or discard the download. All I can do is right click, choose "OPEN", and the installation begins once I have keyed in my authorisation. Then it shows that the download has been installed correctly. But nothing has been installed. I have checked in SECURITY and PRIVACY>General, that "ANYWHERE" is checked under "Allow apps downloaded from: ANYWHERE. What should I look at next?
