    PiCorePlayer and Audioquest dragonfly

    Hi, hoping to get some feedback on how easily, or not, this device will sit with my Pi 2B.

    Iíve read some older threads which report issues with low volume and some issues in making changes to address that problem.

    Is it still an issue it now pretty much plug and play?

    Iím in the process of trying to find alternatives to my existing SB classic and SB radio devices as they are now becoming pretty unstable.

    Grateful for any opinions/ thoughts/ experiences

    Gerry

    I have both a Pi2 and a dragonfly but not combined them as yet. I will try it tomorrow and get back to you.

    On the volume. I have another usb DAC where the volume was too low.

    Assuming you are using piCorePlayer
    Itís fixed by shelling into the Pi

    (This is from memory)

    Run alsamixer
    F6 to choose the correct output
    Then increase volume as required
    Exit

    Run alsactl store
    Then backup your pCP settings to make sure your settings survive reboot
    VB2.4 storage QNAP TS419p (NFS)
    Living Room - Joggler & SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 -> Celestion F20s
    Office - Pi3+Sreen -> Sony TAFE320 -> Celestion F10s / Pi2+DAC & SB3 -> Onkyo CRN755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes
    Dining Room -> SB Boom
    Kitchen -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio)
    Bedroom (Bedside) - Pi2+DAC ->ToppingTP21 ->AKG Headphones
    Bedroom (TV) - SB Touch ->Sherwood AVR ->Mordaunt Short M10s
    Everything controlled by iPeng

    Audioquest Dragonfly Black - works perfectly with a Pi2 and pCP 3.2 that I had lying around.
    No audio adjustment necessary on my setup - player set to 100% fixed output with volume controlled by amp.

    front:CARD=v15,DEV=0

    I use another Dragonfly with my iPhone and iPeng and decent proper headphones - B&W P7. Awesome sound.

    Iíve used a few usb dacs and the Audioquest is definitely the best I have used with my iPhone.
    Iíve actually got 2.
    The second one is going to be CB paired with a Pi3 shortly

    Well the Dragonfly arrived and after a couple of false starts where it wasnít picked up at boot time I got it installed and configured.

    Very pleased with the sound and this means I donít need to worry when my SB classics bite the dust.

    Thanks for the info on alsamixer, volume was very low on my Denon unit but messing with source levels on there and with alsamixer has it as I want it And balanced with other sources to avoid those big leaps in volume when switching sources on the amp😖

    Thanks again
