LMS/Synology: Stream problems with Boom & Radio

I've recently returned to the SB fold from Roon, and am running LMS 8 on a Synology DS216J. my system is:

2 x Transporters, one analog out, one digital
    2 x Touch w/ EDO, USB Out
    1 Boom
    1 Radio

all is good w/ the Touches and Transporters, save an odd Playlisting problem which i'll start a separate thread for.

On the Boom and the Touch, most tracks playback with pink/white noise. there are a few radio streams that work, but most local files, and all Tidal/Qobuz files, play as white noise. Most of my local files are FLAC or AIFF; I have a few MP3 files, which play ok.

I suspect this is a synology issue: i was originally using a mac mini as a server, running LMS 8, and all files played fine. On the DS216J, i was originally using 7.9.2 before upgrading to 8, and the behavior is the same on both versions. it feels like a file type issue, or perhaps the DS216 does not have the codecs built in?

    any help would be appreciated.

FLAC should be no problem on most devices. Binaries are also available in the armada38x package for the DS216j. You might want to check the file types in Server Settings -> Advanced -> File Types.
    -DS718+, RPI 2 (Spotifyd/myMPD),Aune S6 - Exposure 3010S2 - PMC FB1i-s -LmsRepack + LmsUpdate - Updated and Cleaned up Logitech Media Server 8.0.0 for Synology.

    Any Filetype that is disabled.

As many Filetypes should be enabled - (i.e. Native or something like faad/flac, lame/flac)

How did you install LMS ?
What package did you use ? Where did it come from ?

    edit:

Pink/White noise is a sign that the input stream is being decoded incorrectly - common one would be AIFF being played as PCM (byte order is different) - this can also happen if playing stream natively such as as Flac is disabled and user has set devices to stream PCM and input stream is not 44.1kHz/16 format.

At first glance, something very wrong with the WAV.

For each Filetype there should beonly 4 entries
Native (i.e. AAC to AAC, WMA to WMA ) which can be OGG, AAC, WMA, AIFF

Then usually 3 transcode rules Flac, MP3 and PCM.

Your WAV entries mulitple ruiles for same type. This doesn't seem right.

Have you installed any plugins that change the transcoding setup such as C-3PO ?

Is this a clean LMS install or have you installed plugins or changed settings ?

    Edit:

Flac is also messed up - shoudl only be 4 types - FLAC, AIFF, MP3, PCM

    Edit2:

Also Apples Lossless and AIFF look wrong.

C-3PO is installed, although it appears to have been installed by default. I installed the official Synology 7.9.2 package, and then manually installed @pinkdots 8.0 package. the behavior is consistent w/ both.

    should i uninstall c-3PO?

i uninstalled C-3PO, and playback on Radio/Boom seems to work now. i will investigate further, but first results are good.

thank you so much for your help!

now, if i could figure out some odd playlist behavior...but that's another thread.

C-3PO should not be installed by default. If it is then the creation of the nonstandard LMS install package should be contacted. If you are upgrading LMS and C3-PO was previously installed - it will be reinstalled.
