My question is related to character setting in LMS running on Window 10, se information below:
Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1588308753 @ Fri May 1 07:13:19 WEDT 2020
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.26
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Windows 10 - EN - cp1252
I need to change the character encoding so I can get rid of the issue with international characters in filenames.
How can I change or add encoding utf8 to be valid for my LMS?
Running windows 10 and LMSVersion: 8.0.0.
Please give me complete filename path and what to insert / modify and where since I am not well trained in this issue.
I would like to get changing character encoding in LMS setting menus for novice users convenience, is it possible for coming versions?
Thanks in advance for any help

The best way to let LMS support international characters in filenames on Windows is to enable support of '8.3' file names for the file system. Changing the LMS' character encoding wouldn't solve this.
Please see this thread for details: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...name-(Windows)
Edit: if the instructions shown in that thread are not sufficient for you, just ask again.Last edited by reinholdk; 2020-05-23 at 06:49.

Thanks reinholdk, I found information below and followed it:
https://omtool.com/documentation/HPC...e_creation.htm
But the result is very illogical, see the pic below:
The left-hand-side window shows the filename strangely while the right-hand-side shows it perfectly right:
Ali Kaya Arı (notice the last letter is i without dot).
But if I will search for the artist Ali Kaya Arı : I got it right on the left-hand-side window also:
So illogical for me!
I don't know if changing charset to UTF-8 could help? But I put a question in the following thread since I could not follow the instruction there to change the charset to UTF-8:

Thanks again reinholdk
I changed the start mode to 'Automatically run at system start' and as you indicated reinholdk and I could navigate to the squeezesvc as shown below:
:
Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1588308753 @ Fri May 1 07:13:19 WEDT 2020
Hostname: Robi-2016-i7
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.26
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Windows 10 - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: 8664
Perl Version: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
... and finally I got the characters as they should be in the LMS web-interface!
I am really thankful to you reinholdk!Last edited by Rober; 2020-05-24 at 08:30. Reason: update of the result
