    Spotify: authentication with Spotty failure

    Hello everyone,

I am new to LMS, and trying to set it up using the Spotty plugin.
The issue I am having is that I can't authenticate Spotify with Spotty.

Tried 1) Spotify authorization under devices in Spotify (Spotify Connect) and
    2) Entering my Spotify credentials in the Spotty plugin page

but I get Spotify Connect: Your player was not found.

    Tried in two separate installations.
On Win 10 got it to work once. But then switched LMS versions, and have not been able to make it work again.
On Windows Server it never worked. Same issue with authentication

    Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.3 - 1589743826
    Windows 10/Windows Server 2019

Looked at the server log file, and there are some errors but I am not sure if they are relevant to this problem.

Any tips on how to troubleshoot would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Roberto

    Spotify: authentication with Spottyfailure

Are you blocking any outgoing traffic? In addtion to ports 80/443 you'll
need to let traffic on port 4070 reach the internet.

Please try again with plugin.spotty=INFO (Settings/Advanced/Logging).

Could you please run the following from a command line:

    Code:
    C:\PROGRA~3\SQUEEZ~1\Cache\INSTAL~1\Plugins\Spotty\Bin\MSWIN3~1\spotty.exe -c C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\spotty\__AUTHENTICATE__ -n test -a
Then try to to see whether you see this in Spotify. Any error you get in the console?

Another user just reported he had to go to Settings/Open Devices Menu before the list would show Spotty.

    Hi
Ok, did run the command as you indicated and can see 'test' in Spotify's available connections box.
    No errors thrown.

    Failed to get access token

I am using LMS 8.0.0 - 1590347233 and Spotty 4.1.0 on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Dell PC using a Squeezebox Duet. I tried to connect to Spotify (for the first time in a few weeks, so I don't know how long it's been since it worked for me, nor what the last versions were that worked for me) but I keep getting

    "Failed to get access token
    Please check Settings/Advanced/Spotty/Spotify for Squeezebox
    in the web interface"

Here is what I have tried so far:

    1. I removed my Spotify account info from Spotty and followed the authentication procedure by letting Spotify automatically authenticate; it took almost a minute. Still get the error message.
    2. I removed my Spotify account info from Spotty and followed the authentication procedure by manually entering my Spotify username and password. Still get the error message.
    3. I unchecked Spotty from the list of plugins, restarted LMS, then ticked the box and restarted LMS again; I then tried 1. and 2. again. Still get the error message.

I am nowhere near being proficient with LMS to do much more than that, so if there are any further info-gathering or troubleshooting steps you'd like me to perform, please be sure to instruct me as if talking to my great grandmother.

    Thanks in advance!

Hmm... then I don't understand why that would not work within LMS. Are
you sure you have not firewall activated on your systems? You said you
disabled it: are you using anything other than Windows' own?

Could you please share your server.log file with us?
