    Sonos + piCorePlayer v6 + SMB1

    Hi there,

I am new here, and am using piCorePlayer on a Raspberry Pi 2 since a few weeks. I added some USB-Drives, and can access LMS with some Raspi Zeros and iPeng on my phone.
Works great so far. Nice work, it's a great piece of software. Thanks for that!

I configured Samba with some shares, which are visible and accessible on my Mac. So far, so good.
However, I have an original Sonos, which seem to only support SMB1. If I try to add the share to my library in the Sonos-Software, it doesn't work.

My question: Do I need to activate SMB1, and HOW can I activate SMB1?

    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers

Why does Sonos need to connect via SMB to your pCP based server? SMB1 is likely not enabled in the conf, as it is long obsolete.

You might be able to manually edit the smb.conf file to enable it, but then don't use the web interface to manage smb.

Use Phillipeĺs upnpbridge plugin on your LMS.
I think he originally wrote it for a Sonos.
It turns a Sonos into an SB player

Thanks for your reply. Problem is, my Sonos' are that old, that they only support SMB1 and Sonos (the company) is not going to add SMB2/3 because of "Memory Reasons". So I have to set up an SMB1, which I know is a security risk.

Thanks for the suggestion. I installed that, but my Sonos is not detecting anything upnp/dlna-based. I will investigate.

    Hiya,

    - for the record -

I could set up the whole thing - suggested upnpbridge, and in its settings add the Sonos-config to the detected Sonos-devices. But I have to use the LMS-Page on Port 9000 to start playing music. If this is intended behavior, all is working now, I can see my music there.

I was thinking of controlling everything inside the Sonos-app. If that's not possible, never mind ;-)

    Thanks again for your suggestions!
    Highly appreciated

Correct - when working this way LMS is the master.
You can use LMS-aware apps or a web interface to LMS (like you did) to set the music to play on your Sonos.
If you install the "Material" plugin then you can get an app-like interface in your browser (phone, tablet or desktop) by going to ...:9000/material
