    First time install; some observations

I've been a long time user of LMS on a Synology NAS. Now that Synology has ended support for LMS, I've decided to go for piCore LMS on RPi4B. Never having used a RPi before I found the process of installing pretty straightforward. Mainly thanks to all the information I found on this forum. Of course not everything went smoothly, but that's never the case, I suppose.
    Some observations on the process.
    • Setting the fixed ip address from within piCore looked rather complex. I just checked the box in my router administration panel. That does the job for me. Perhaps this option could be mentioned in the manual as an alternative.

    • I had al lot of trouble connecting an extern folder (that's on my NAS). In the end I discovered that the problem was, that my username on the NAS has a space in it. piCore doesn't seem to be able to handle that. After I added a dedicated LMS user on my NAS without any spaces in its name, the connection succeeded.

    • Initially I resized the filesystem to 300 MB as the manual prescribes. That proved way to low; the scanning process froze and so did the system. After setting the filesystem to 2000 MB, LMS was ok. Usage after the scan process and a day's usage is around 750 MB. I have around 50.000 tracks on the NAS and next to that a rather long list of favourites on Qobuz.

Apart from this I have a problem of my RPi shutting down at different intervals. I'm pretty sure that's a hardware problem, though. The connection of the PSU with the USB-c port feels a bit wobbly. Couldn't find anything on that in the forums, so I guess I'm alone with this problem.

    Thanks for your feeedback.

    1. We do have this message on the [Main Page] [Static IP] more help and on the static IP page "The recommended method to set a static IP address is to map the MAC address to an IP address in your router."

    3. If you are not going to use the SD card for anything else its probably easiest to expand to use the full SD card.

Who hosts these webpages https://www.picoreplayer.org/how_to_install_lms.shtml ?

Isn't it about time someone got off their arse and changed 300MB to something more realistic?

Or highlight that the number needs to be big if LMS database is held there.

    Thanks for your suggestion!

BTW: 300MB has always worked for me.

And your LMS cache folder (slimserver) is on your SD card?

    300MB wouldn't work for me.

I assume that page started life as pCP as a player only.

No, it was drawn up specifically as a guide to setting up pCP as an LMS server, by a forum member, I forget who it was, but it can be found in these fora.

I'd vote for full size, too. 300MB is not enough in many cases. In
particular if you're using my Music and Artist Information plugins with
artist artwork etc. the cache can grow considerably. I have a moderate
collection of around 20k tracks, and the cache folder already is almost
    500MB.

There's little reason not to use the full capacity anyway, is there?
