Hissing sounds after playing 1 WMA file

    Hi all,

A weird thing has happened recently and I am in the process of trying to
fix it. If someone else has seen this before and knows how to fix it,
    please let me know!

Basically, after playing 1 WMA song, I just get a continuous stream of
hissing. This is happening consistently. I have run with this
configuration before, so it should work.

    My slimserver-convert.conf looks like this:

    wma wav squeezebox *
    [ffmpeg] -v 0 -i $FILE$ -f wav -
    wma mp3 * *
    [ffmpeg] -v 0 -i $FILE$ -f wav - | [lame] -x -m s -r -S -q 5 -s
    44.1 - -

I added some debug options and I get the following messages (after the
    first successful WMA song):

    Error while decoding stream #0.0

Hissing sounds after playing 1 WMA file

Ok, the world of slim is in order again, my WMA problem is fixed!  :-)

It was a pretty simple fix in the end.  After a bit of further investigation I realised that it was every second song that was failing.  So if I left an album of 10 WMA songs to play, 5 would play ok, and 5 would fail!

The key in the end was that in the "Server Settings", there were 2 ticks against Windows Media

    once for

    Windows Media MP3 ffmpeg/lame
    and again for

    Windows Media WAV ffmpeg
Unchecking the second option fixed it!

    Cheers,

    Patrick

    Patrick,

My SB2 went bonkers today. One of the key observation is the continuous hissing noise. SB2 would play well for a track or two before the hiss appears. I play only FLAC files with transcoding on server.

I presume the fix you mentioned below are based on the older SlimServer version. I could not find the Media names (Windows Media MP3 ffmpeg/lame, Windows Media WAV ffmpeg)in current 6.1.x version. Would you be able to help me look at the current 6.1.x web UI (Server Settings-File Types)screen and tell me which lines match your descriptions? Screen capture of my web UI attached.

My SB2 is working right now. Since I do not know exactly why the hissing occurs, I do not know when it will happen again. I need all the information available to tackle this if the problem comes back. Thanks for the help.
