Player as a program alongside other app on a RPi?

Hi all, I wonder if it's possible to run a player on a RPi and use it for other goals as well at the same time - guess with Raspbian, if possible.
To raise the bar: would this work with a touchscreen.

    Yes you can do that.
It is more responsive and can run more at the same time on the RPi4 with 2GB or 4GB of memory but the other models can also do it.
I would not choose to sit for a long time in front of the 7 inch touchscreen and try to use it like a desktop computer.
But using it with a full size screen along with USB keyboard and mouse is much like using an old-ish PC.

    Hi Paul

    Thanks for your confirmation!
Since I have used Raspbian until now, I thought of using that but I stumbled on DietPi.
Would that work too or is there any other distro which is interesting to have a look at.

The goal is to use it as a way to control LMS playback and a dashboard for home automation (maybe by a full screen browser window or have to see what works/I can get working)

    Hi ronnie

Thanks for that confirmation on Jivelite.
I do already run it with pCP but could you please elaborate on how you got it running on raspbian?

Regarding home automation: I have already jumped on the bandwagon of Home Assistant and now I'm looking if it would be possible to combine the dashboard somehow with the control of my mediaplayers.
With the material skin in kiosk mode I already have a possible solution for pCP but at the same time it blocks other options since you cannot switch apps/windows.

On the Raspbian Desktop I used info from here

    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...l=1#post931584

which is based on info from the Hagensieker site, which has been relocated and appears to have disappeared

There are also a few other fixes, I'll have to find the links.
