    Are username/password protectedpodcast RSS-feeds possible?

I heard on mastodon, that nrk.no is moving towards removing RSS feeds
    from their podcasts.

Personally I don't think they can call it "podcast" anymore, if they
drop the RSS feeds... but that's not the most important thing (to me).

The most important thing about this, to me, is that I can no longer play
    the podcasts on my squeezeboxes.

Someone had said we could suggest to nrk.no that they protect the RSS
    feeds with username and passwords.

Are username/passwords protected RSS feeds possible in the squeezebox
    ecosystem?

If so, what authentication methods are supported? Basic auth? OAuth?
Forms and cookie based authentication? (i.e. webapp style)

    Thanks!

Basic auth would be the simplest - that's why it's not popular :-). It's
    basically https://username:password (AT) www (...m/path/to/feed.

The others wouldn't work without some specific development. As you said:
at some point these are no longer podcasts.

They could always require a unique user id in the url ... and then verify that it is not used from many IP addresses at the same time.

Right: specifying username and password as part of the feed URL when
addin a podcast on mysqueezebox.com, will result the specified
username/password being used in basic auth in HTTP requests to the RSS
    feed?
