    LMS 8.0.0 and AutoRescan Plugin

    The AutoRescan Plugin is not available anymore after upgrade to LMS 8.0.0

    Is there a technical reason? or a bug?
    Can I fix this myself?

    AutoRescan is a great plugin. When I am adding new music files, this plugin is almost instantly adding the music to the music library - not only once a day as Rescan Music Library Plugin.

    LMS 8.0.0 and AutoRescan Plugin

    If this is a 3rd party plugin, then the author might need to update his
    repository file. Many files have a maxVerion of 7.x. Sometimes you can
    cheat LMS into accepting it by modifying the value in the
    InstalledPlugins folder (see Settings/Information about where to find it).

    I am also still using this plugin and yes, it works fine with the squeezeserver 8 if you change the max version number in the install.xml file

    Good to hear. But have no clue what to do.
    The plugin is not showing up anymore in the list of 3rd party plugins.

    Here are some hints - but you will need to do this manually, so be careful.

    1) Locate the plugin files on your squeezeserver. On my system (Debian Linux) this is the directory:

    var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/AutoRescan

    (If you already uninstalled the plugin and thee files are no longer there you can still download them from github:

    2) Copy the files in this directory to another directory (i. e. your home directory) and create another copy somewhere as a backup

    3) If the plugin still shows as "installed" in the squeezeer settings, uninstall it.

    4) Edit the file install.xml. Change the lines:
    Code:
    	<targetApplication>
    		<id>Squeezebox Server</id>
    		<minVersion>7.7</minVersion>
    		<maxVersion>7.9+</maxVersion>
    	</targetApplication>
    to:
    Code:
    	<targetApplication>
    		<id>Squeezebox Server</id>
    		<minVersion>7.7</minVersion>
    		<maxVersion>8.0+</maxVersion>
    	</targetApplication>
    5) Locate the folder for local plugins on your system. In my case this is:
    /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins

    6) Create a folder named "AutoRescan" in this directoy

    7) Copy the plugin files in this directory and restart the server

    Please note that this will only work if you're upgrading from LMS7, and
    you already had the plugin installed.

    I tried sternenjaeger's proposal. But it did not work.
    The plugin was there for a little while, but after restarting LMS the plugin disappeared.

    I have done an upgrade from LMS7, but have delete the plugin as shown as incompatible.

    Is there anyway to get it installed again on LMS8?

    Note: I do use pCP.

    With pCP this will require additional work, since PiCorePlayer runs entirely in RAM. So most things you change are not persistant, i. e. changes in files won't survice a restart.

    Perhaps better ask this in the corresponding threads for PiCorePlayer, either here

    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...rePlayer-5-0-0 (for Version 5)

    or

    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...-0-PI4-support (for version 6)

    I will wait until this plugin becomes "formally" available for LMS8 ....

    Given https://github.com/hickinbottoms/AutoRescan is GPL V2, and the author has not updated it in many years, could a version with the patched install.xml be included within the standard Docker image? Having the container automatically rescan updated music mounted from outside the container would seem like a generally useful function. (I understand it not being included in the main slimserver as its functionality is unavailable on macOS).

    It also needs perl's inotify2 module adding to the Docker image which would be generally beneficial even for people left to hack their way around installing the plugin manually.

    Cheers.
