I think it's the wrong way. To have a link to a music service as part of
an album list sounds wrong. I'll have to think about an alternative way
to get those links. But they will not be part of the albums query
response. You can get the "external ID" for a track/album/artist using
    the corresponding query, though.

I don't mind if the query is not under the 'normal' Albums query and is in its own category, just as long as it can be queried somehow other than iteratively parsing menus Maybe add a 'musicservice' query or some such?

How to deal with multiple accounts?

If there are multiple accounts for a music service, what should be imported to LMS? How should the libraries be separated?

I guess I'll have to think about de-duplication, too...

I tend to the second option, making My Music really the entry point to the stuff I have actively added to my collection. For discovery I'd go to the service specific app menus. Or I could try to add a "more of this artist on XYZ"?
Id love the feature, this is one of the things we wanted to accomplish in the now dead SMD (socialmusicdiscovery.com) project a long time ago.

Should definitely only include favorite albums, Id prefer if it integrated with my favorite list in the online service rather than manually have to re-add all my online favorites in LMS. However, if thats complex to implement I could live with having to re-add the favorites in LMS.

Isnt the more of this artist on XYZ the same thing as the already existing On Spotify: <artist> context menu for Spotify?
I think a context menu like this would be good enough as a way to jump out to see all albums for the artist in the online service.

I believe this would be ok for people with small libraries. But once you
have a few hundred or thousands of albums added to your collection, the
Favorites mechanism wouldn't really be useful any more.

The way I've implemented it for now is to import them like local tracks.

Almost identical indeed. But I wanted to have it closer to my
navigation: in order to get that menu from the album level, you'd have
to bring up an album's info menu and select that item from far down the
list. My idea was to have it like a "Show more..." item in the album
list (see screenshot above). Plus that would go directly to the artist's
menu, rather than just trigger a search on the service. Overall just a
bit quicker to get to the target.

And that would have been my response too .

I think I'll look into automatically creating library views per user.

As this music service integration will be for an 8.0 release, what about going 1 step further and adding user support throughout LMS? The main music service account would be linked to the user, the list of browse modes could be per-user (instead of per device), the list of favourites could also be per-user. Control points (e.g. iPeng, Material, SqueezeCtrl) could then specify the user ID with each query, etc.
