Kickstarter project for a new interesting 7" display case together with Pi (SmartiPi)

    Hello!

Today I got a mail regarding a new Kickstarter project:
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...tipi-touch-pro

I have the first version of this case and this symmetric design looks really good!

An improvement over their earlier version in many ways except placement of the RPi. If the RPi ports were setback a bit, you might not have to see all the wires protruding from the left edge. Also, I see no way to access the outputs of a HAT such as a HifiBerry DAC though it might not be visible in the promo pictures.

Has RPi4 solved its temperature problem? Otherwise, it's going to get pretty warm in there.

There is a solution for it on the end of the page. You can place the Pi with the connectors to the inner side and use the ports inside (they call it "Stealth mode") and the cables can go out on the back side.

I don't know if it is possible if the Pi is mounted with the ports inside.

Does anyone know of a decent 5/7" touch display that works with the rPi4 and PCP? I'm not bothered about an integrated rPi4 case as I'm using the Hifiberry XLR one.

All the ones I've seen look rather Heath Robinson with wires sprouting everywhere or PCBs visible. Also I'm not sure if drivers are going to be an issue (with PCP) e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Capacitive-.../dp/B07ZD4QGQJ comments say it only works with Kali Linux.

I would choose the Original 7" Pi-Display. That works and can be used eg. in this case:

if you can wait a bit this one:

I have the first one of them with a Pi 3B+ and it is great. It stays at the place when touching the display!

Yes I have one already but it has a ribbon cable and not micro HDMI which the rpi4 uses.

The best/easiest to use display is still the Official RPI display. RPI does not offer a display that is HDMI.
piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.

But the Pi 4 should also have this connector for the display. This is standard!

Tx, so I see that it still has the DSI ribbon connector - and it appears you can get longer ribbon cables as I'm sure the supplied one won't be long enough to reach to an external case.

When you choose the SmartiPi case there is a cable for the display and everything else you need.
