    Our atheros firmware package was a little outdated.....I just updated it.

    from an ssh session. pcp-update firmware-atheros.tcz

    Then reboot.

    Do you have any hints / parameters to set in order to optimize audio quality? i use the 3.5mm audio jack of the raspi.

    Most of the tweaks are already enabled for the onboard audio......on a 2B, it's really not that good. A cheap i2s dac would be a better option.

    Is an USB DAC also possible or has this option disadvantages? Its beacuase i have already a case for my pi - whe i put a pifi module on the gpio it wont fit in there any more and i need a new case. And are there any good and small recomendations for USB DAC's for the pi?

    There are a lot of USB dacs that work, but USB is a weak point of the RPI boards.

    Iĺm sure someone can make a recommendation.

    So i understand best soundquality i will get with a i2s dac ... i will order a pifi dac from china for about 13 Euro. I think together with two esi near 05 active speakers i will get the best out og the sound system

    Alow me one more question to picoreplayer: I tried to set up a radio station, that automaticaly plays after i switch on picore under Auto start tweaks:

    * i choose my radio station favorite
    * tried test --> it plays
    * save
    * reboot
    --> it dont starts automatically
    am i doing sth wrong?

    PS: i now have my pi + 2 nEar 05 experience running (without special soundcard) - excellent sound. but i also try with i2s dac later

    Try this:

    choose your favourite
    try test
    while playing, go to Main page tab and shutdown the pi
    wait until it halts completly
    then plug in to restart
    wait a few seconds for playback to start

    be careful with the volume
