    Very large artwork.db file

    Hi All,

I'm running LMS 7.9.2 on my Ubuntu server. My system drive is quite small and I have all my media stored on a second internal drive.

Currently the artwork.db file in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache is taking up 11.7gb. This is too much space to be taking up on my system drive.

Firstly, is this normal for the file to be that large, if not how do I correct it?

Or, is there a way to relocate it to the other drive? Would a simlink work?

    Thanks

That's huge! How large is your library (number of tracks)? And if you
check Settings/Advanced/Performance in the LMS web UI, what
specifications are there for images to be pre-cached?

You can define the --cachedir. You'd set this in something like
    /etc/defaults/logitechmediaserver or the like. There's a SLIMOPTIONS
    variable you can use.

Never thought of this. My artwork.db file is over 13GB
    ls -l --block-size=M
    gives
    -rw-r--r-- 1 squeezeboxserver nogroup 1304M Apr 2 15:40 artwork.db

    Quite large library

    That's 1.3GB, isn't it?

1.3GB would make sense (compared to my collection). 13GB would not.

Crap if course. Used to be a technician, jumped on the management wagon in 2005.
Think I have to start thinking again

    Yeah, largish. About 33000 songs.
    My settings.

Ok, great. I think I've done that successfully, but would still like to reduce that file size if I can.

    Thanks

You could delete it (3 files) (or move it sideways) and do a rescan and see how big it is when it comes back (if it does come back ... and if it does not come back then move the saved copy back again).
Probably need to stop / start LMS around file moves/renames.

Yes, shut down LMS, then delete library.db, artwork.db and imgproxy.db.
Restart. This will trigger a new scan.

Multiple GBs for artwork.db with 33k tracks is way too large. I have
about 20k tracks, and my artwork.db is somewhere around 120MB.

Ok have done that but looks like the scan has stalled and the artwork.db file is up to 3.7gb and still growing. It's showing "Scanning new media files: /storage/Media/philsmusic (1979 of 3417) Running 08:09:36" for many hours. I'm guessing its found a file it can't deal with. Last bit of the scanner log is as follows:

Oh, do you have the image scanner still in place? Eg. are you using LMS'
video/photo scanning, too? If not, then make sure you disable those
image types for these folders. Or even disable the DLNA plugin if you
    don't use it.
