    pCP 6 / synchonisation

    Hi,

    following Setup

    Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 0023.1559540205 @ Wed Jun 5 14:51:56 CEST 2019
    OS: Synology DiskStation - DE - utf8
    Platform: x86_64-linux
    Perl-Version: 5.24.0 - x86_64-linux
    Audio::Scan: 0.95
    IO::Socket::SSL: 2.037
    Datenbankversion: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
    Number of Player: 3

    2 PI 3B+ with pCP 6.0.0-b7

    One of them (called Blau67) connected per ethernet with output on a BT Speaker. The BT Speaker is Player 3(called Boseplayer)
    The other one (called WoZi67) connected per WLAN with output on a hifiberry DAC

    I have configured a synchronisation between "WoZi67" and "Boseplayer", but this only works for an hour or so.
    I start to play music and th sync is perfekt. After a while(sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes an hour or two hours the sync is lost and the only chance to sync it again is stop playing and start ist again.
    Alternative i can power off/on the BT Speaker.

    What can i do?

    greets,
    sky

    By streaming an URL from i-net the sync is lost after max. one hour.
    If i play local Music(Album by Album) i can hear 5, 6 Albums befor the sync ix lost.

    With internet streams - the data is one continuous "track" so small adjustments sync has to be made all the time until it fails.
    With albums, audio is sent as a series of "track" each usually quite short (unless something like classical). At the start of each track - sync is "reset" and only has to last a few minutes.

    Have you tried changing which speaker is "master". This can help if the problem is really LMS sync mechanism. There is a possibility that BT is an issue.

    It seems there is no difference which of the players is "master".

    Is it possible to sync it manually per command-line?

    No - the syncing process involves LMS checking every few secs and making v. small adjustments.

    So when you say sync breaks down - it "feels" like something that is not part of LMS sync.

    You can enable LMS logging (player.sync) for sync to check on sync behaviour.
    You can adjust some sync parameters to try to see if it improves sync but this is only worthwhile if the problem is really due to LMS sync.
    Sync parameter for each player can be found at WebUI Settings/Player/Synchronize

    Yes but it may also be closing and reopening the BT connection.
    All I am saying - don't prejudge the situation.

    The usual problem with sync is that you get gaps and players resync - users then complain about gaps.

    You have not described in detail "sync is lost". Do the players stop playing ? is one player ahead of other and stays ahead - if so by how much ? At anytime do you get gaps as players resync ? etc.

    "sync is lost" means that one player is 200,300 or 500ms behind the other and then both players play but did not sync again.
    And this happens suddenly within a second.

    I will test a view things the next days(change BT-Speaker to analog output, change WLAN to ethernet, play long local tracks).

    How can i change the log-options to see the sync in a log-file?
    In the server.prefs i find 10 clients, but i only have 3. Can i delete the server.prefs?

    greets,
    sky
