    new base drivers on ebay?

Are these correct for the Boom? They're (some of them) advertised as correct for the Radio:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/301953806866
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/222270301774

There's quite a few threads asking similar questions I thought to tag on the end of, but their links are dead and they're all a bit old and I thought it more straight forward to start afresh.

    Thanks
    Morgan.

Squeezebox Radio ones are not right. (edit : Reading JoeMuc2009 blog and he says Radio and Boom speaker are the same)

Not sure about third link . The following was a link previously recommended.

JoeMuc2009 opinion would be definitive as he has repaired many Booms. see https://joes-tech-blog.blogspot.com/...adio-bass.html

I bought a pair of these to try out. They arrived during the week and I haven't had a chance to compare them to a dismantled Boom, but they do look like I remember the Boom drivers. I'll check over the weekend.

It does seem that it may be the sellers who are not identifying these correctly - I saw some of those earlier threads that gave part numbers, and one I think where the seller had stated they are not for the Boom. But it seems possible that the sellers aren't aware of the Squeezebox Boom, so when checking what a 'Boom' is they may have found the UE Boom range of bluetooth speakers.

They're a perfect match. New one on the left (from here), original on the right.

Is it a relatively new thing that these speakers have been appearing on eBay?
If yes then perhaps it implies that Logitech is clearing out some old boxes that someone has found in a warehouse/cupboard.
If the prices are good then maybe Boom owners who like playing things loud should grab some spares while they can.

I can't say for sure - it does seem odd that people have shoe-horned other drivers in, and many people, myself included, have repaired the old drivers with new foams, if these have been available all the time. Maybe another batch has been unearthed recently, or maybe I overlooked them in the past because of the misleading adverts. If you search on the part number (170089-0000) this topic has come up before. Here's a post from 2013, so they've definitely been available in the past.

I wish I'd read your post properly 10 minutes ago!

I dismantled a radio, and can confirm that the SBR driver has the same part number.

    Selling faulty drivers

I've just successfully completed the upgrade of a faulty driver and I read in the instructions that putting the faulty bass driver on ebay as they can be used... My questions is, is this still the case? Happy to sell it but wondering if anyone really needs them?
Yes I know if could put it on and see, but I really am trying to work out if I'd be helping the community because if I'm not.. I can't be arsed 😉

I just received a couple of these from the ebay seller and they're clearly repairs. Pretty good ones, but glue all over the place and miscellaneous cosmetic damage that indicate that mine at least are clearly pulls. Not massively impressed.

On the question of selling them on.. I guess there's a market for them!
