BBC Radio 3 HD stream '403 Forbidden'?

    Hello Folks

    Long time no post

I'm getting '403 Forbidden' for the following URL:
    http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediasele...adio_three.pls

The most recent discussion I've found was back in March here:
    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...l=1#post935346
Where the following URL (under the wrong head) returns '404 Not Found':
    http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediasele...adio_three.pls

Can anyone help with the correct URL for BBC Radio 3 HD, or whether it's gone?

    Many thanks
    Morgan.

    The R3 320k http/AAC was UK only.

403 forbidden usually means a non UK IP address trying to access a UK only service.
Are you in the UK ?
Are you non UK but using a VPN ?
Are you using mysqueezebox.com (which is not UK based) or a local LMS ?

The URL which gives you 404 is the URL which BBC advertises on their imda feed as a shoutcast UK only R3 http/AAC 320kb.

I just tried that URL (and am in UK) and it started playing without a problem.
    I was not using LMS/mysqueezebox

Definitely in the UK - Leeds, with my TV Licence...
But, yes - I'm using mysqueezebox.com. So, is that the problem?
Does the beeb publish a list anywhere...?
    Thanks

The referenced "recent discussion" related to 403 seemed to be a result of a Tune-in problem giving bad URLs.

    Are you using Tune-in ?

mysqueezebox.com is run on AWS servers - depending where you are in the world, there are different servers but there used to be an issue for UK only stream as the mysqueezebox server is not in UK and BBC does check on initial lookup which mysqueezebox.com has to do to determine the server.

Did the URL suddenly stop working or is this is first time you tried with Radio/mysqueezebox.com ?

The format of the published list is targetted at its audience - equipment vendors not end users.

I've not had the time to refurbish my server since it became too offensive to others as living room furniture some years ago - so have been relying on mysqueezebox.com for some time - and the BBC stopped working c/o the mysqueezebox.com & tunein.com - so, yes, it's the first time I've tried it

Is this anything to do with this BBC blog post: Changes to access of BBC live radio streams on selected TuneIn platforms in the UK

I think this has been brought up before, but apparently the service was actually removed on 30th September for amazon echo users and there is a storm of protest in comments on that blog post now.

See also this article in The Register: BBC said it'll pull radio streams from TuneIn to slurp more of your data but nobody noticed till Amazon put its foot in it

Try the #noslim=1 workaround on the real URL not the pls one.
