    Reproducible crash while playing

    > I did use the Spotty Audio settings Low, High and Extreme. They all crash.

Please test he file types (the ones from your screenshot!). Try to
disable all but one option. One by one.

Spent the better part of yesterday trying to get a grip on this, with no
    success.

Disabling filetypes makes no difference (i.e. it still crashes) until it
gets to the point that it start complaining that it cannot play anymore.

So LMS crashes with OOM only when --
    - run on Synology DS418 (cannot test other Synology)
    - playing the first track and then the second track
    - playing to my SB Classic2.

This is what I noticed this morning. "..." is the complete command

    /usr/bin/perl /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/slimserver.pl
    --daemon
    --pidfile /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/slimserver.pid
    --cachedir /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache
    --logdir /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Logs
    --prefsdir /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/prefs
    --httpport 9002

A couple of quick ps auxw commands:

    admin 26588 0.4 7.2 246500 122428 ? Ss Oct01 5:23 ...
    admin 26588 0.4 7.4 313032 124816 ? Ds Oct01 5:23 ...
    admin 26588 0.4 7.8 312448 132844 ? Ds Oct01 5:23 ...
    admin 26588 0.4 8.5 311944 143868 ? Ds Oct01 5:23 ...
    admin 26588 0.4 9.0 311944 151500 ? Ds Oct01 5:23 ...
    gone!

So the state goes from S to D (device wait) and memory slowly increases.

Unless there are any interesting things to try I suggest leaving this as it is...

    Reproducible crash while playing

    Guess what?

Looking through the files in the cache I found the ogg file that causes the
    crash.

I put this file on disk, and when I try to play it (browsing Home > Music
Folder > etc): crash. So this rules out anything Spotty related.
(The file plays okay on another system, and shows nothing peculiar when
    analysed with Audacity).

In the Settings > Advanced > File Types I disabled everything, and LMS
cannot play (/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Bin/sox FAIL formats: no
handler for given file type `ogg'). When I set Ogg Vorbis -> Ogg Vorbis to
Native (the only other option) LMS crashes with OOM when I try to play the
    file.

    Anything else to try?

Sidequestion: I assume LMS can handle ogg disk files? Does it understand
vorbis comments to specify artist, album and so on?

Disable everything obviously will not play back anything. What if you
    left PCM or FLAC enabled?

In the Ogg Vorbis section everything is enabled except Ogg Vorbis (and MP3,
that seems to be disabled 'hard'). Trying to play an ogg file gives
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Bin/sox FAIL formats: no handler for given
    file type `ogg'

Lame is not included in the Synology packages, so the mp3 option would be greyed out.
The shipped version of sox might be pretty old and limited? You could try to replace sox and flac with the aarch64 binaries from Michael's unix tarball.

If I understand correctly then sox is not involved in playing Ogg Vorbis
    data when Native is selected.

Indeed, it is supported by the Squeezebox2, so decoded by the player: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.ph...are_comparison
sox is only needed for transcoding, server side. See convert.conf for further info: https://github.com/Logitech/slimserv...vert.conf#L112

This makes the myserious crash even more intriguing... It's not spotty or
the spotty-helper (the file is in the cache already). It's not the
conversion layer since there's no conversion involved. It's just LMS trying
to read the first block of the file before passing ti to the SqueezeBox.
