I recently moved my server to a Pi3 running PicorePlayer with the help of good folk on this forum and everything is running good and snappy except RandomMix.
My old server used to start a mix instantly but the Pi server takes about 7 seconds to start playback this is with a library of about 18,000.
The only difference is that I used to use a Custom.Map to send a keypress to start but I've not been able to figure out how to do that on PCP
Any advice?
Thanks
Craig

I just checked in the LMS web interface and it took 7 seconds before the player playlist was populated so it's not an issue with custom.map

hi Craig,
For reference:
1. LMS on RPi1B with 10,000 tracks Random Mix - Song takes 6 seconds
This was a lot slower on older versions of LMS. Michael did a fix, 1 or 2 years ago, that improved speed significantly.
2. LMS on RPi4B with 10,000 tracks Random Mix - Song takes <1 seconds
On the odd occasion, it takes longer on the RPi4B, I have noticed a few errors in mesg, but I suspect running a USB drive off a RPi4B with less than the recommended PSU is the problem.
regards
Greg

Thanks Greg
This is on a RPI3B+ but my SSD is currently in a usb caddy.
When my proper mounting board finally arrives it will have a connector for additional power for the SSD so I'll give that a go.

What kind of mix? What UI are you using? And what i your database memory
setting (Settings/Advanced/Performance)?

Thanks Michael,
Random Song Mix from around 20,000 tracks ( I didn't realise I had that many)
Database memory setting is "High"
and it doesn't matter which interface I use, Web UI, preset on a player or Squeeze Ctrl
Greg may be onto something though, I don't think my power supply is up to the job, I've got an official one arriving tomorrow.

So I've just tried with the official PSU and I have a solid red light which I didn't have before and Random Songs is taking a bit less that three seconds.
I'm happy with that.
Thanks guys.
