However, this old post from Roland0 might be a good starting point for an adventurous person ...

It uses the shared memory from SqueezeLite to feed into a video effects system (libvisual) and it looks like the video effects project has sprung back into life ... so maybe they would be interested in adding support for driving LEDs along with screens.

How to for LMS 8.0 on piCorePlayer (on PiZero)?

Hi - I was referred to this thread for potential help for my question:
"How to install LMS 8.0 on piCorePlayer (on PiZero)?"

    I am on piCorePlayer v5.0.1 and 7.9.2 - 1578996832 @ Tue Jan 14 12:21:10 CET 2020 on a PiZeroW.

    I followed these instructions:
    Code:
    1. Access piCorePlayer via ssh
    2. $ cd /tmp
    3. $ wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pi.../lms-update.sh
    4. $ chmod 755 lms-update.sh
    5. $ sudo ./lms-update.sh --mm 8.0.0 -s -r -u
But instead of an update, I get just this response:
    Code:
Performing manual check for update link, Current Version is: 8.0 r1578996832.
    Connecting to www.mysqueezebox.com (34.244.198.169:80)
    tmp.r6Rc53 100% |********************************| 2 0:00:00 ETA
Revision 8.0 r1578996832 is the latest. No Update Needed.
    And I am still on 7.9.2 - 1578996832 @ Tue Jan 14 12:21:10 CET 2020;
also the above quoted version of 8.0.0 does not match the 8.0.0. Version i see in http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=8.0; which is 1579212373 (It is instead the version I currently run: 1578996832??)

    Thanks, Paul!
I am sure you are right:
I just tried with the exact same procedure to update to 7.9.3 and that worked fine!
Maybe something wrong with the versioning of LMS 8.0.0.?
I'll ask / notify Michael in the LMS Forum folder.

    Hello,

I would like to add a software tool to manage usb devices connected to my PiCorePlayer, namely a temperature sensor.

When I reboot, it is lost.

Is there a way to make it persistent? it's a very small tool (800kB).

    1) where are you saving it
    2) Did you remember to backup.

The file system is a ram disk, so nothing is saved unless you tell it to.

I added a file in /etc/udev/rules.d, this is needed to have write access to USB devices.

The binary in /usr/sbin, and the startup script in /etc/init.d.

I guess it must be managed differently.

tried adding a file in /etc/udev/rules.d, backup my changes (from main page) and reboot.

    The file is gone.

You will have to add all of those files to /opt/.filetool.lst before you try to backup. Only add the 3 files, otherwise your backup will blow up.

Much easier to build an extension.

Don't forget to reload udev in your scripts somewhere.
