As I say, sounds like I have the wrong idea - so perhaps you can explain from first principles what the streamer is supposed to do ?

Connect an analog audio source to you input device, in your case the hifiberry DAC+ADC. Streamer will read from that jack, and create an icy stream via http. VLC works just fine. The IP address in the URL is the pCP with the hifiberry or other input device.

What I would do is open an ssh session on your pcp device and watch the log while you are trying

    tail -f /var/log/pcp_streamer.log

    Powering off HDMI...FAIL

    Hi all,

in the boot log of my pcP 5.00 running on Raspberry 3B+ I see the entry “Powering off HDMI...FAIL”. On inspection, I find that the extension rpi-vc.tcz is not installed. When trying to install rpi-vc.tcz manually, the log says “Downloading: rpi-vc.tcz, rpi-vc.tcz: FAILED, Error on rpi-vc.tcz”.

Anything can be done about this?

    Best, Michael

I just checked from my end, everything is normal with rpi-vc

Are you sure the rpi is connected and has access to the internet. When you go to the extensions page, do you have green check marks?

Thank you, yes, connected to the internet by Ethernet and the green checkmarks are present. Everything else is working fine.

The info page for rpi-vc shows this:

That means rpi-vc.tcz has no dependencies, so there is no tree either.

    Strange, works for me.

Have you run out of space?

    Delete rpi-vc.* from aborted downloads.

I would try from an ssh command line

    pcp-load -wi rpi-vc.tcz

This will let us see the full error. If there is a corrupt partial download, you might have to manually remove it.

Yesterday evening I went through a complete installation. rpi-vc.tcz is installed now. Must have been something wrong with the previous install.

    Thank you for your support,
    Michael
