02 Joggler still the best non phone/tablet way of controlling Transporter? I only have an old phone and no home wifi.

is there any other bluetooth or remote control option (non wifi way) of controlling it with a screen on said device

Joggler is also my primary control for the most used player in the house (although I do it via wifi).

Squeezebox Touch or any small PC (given that you require ethernet).

Squeezebox Controller (remote control from Duet) ... but I suspect you would find it frustrating if it was the only control device ... assuming it can do it via IR (I have not checked).

I don't think the Joggler will work as a controller if not on a network. You'll need the original Squeezebox IR remote or another IR remote that supports the Squeezebox codes (e.g. Logitech Harmony). You'll be doing things the "old fashioned" way: remote in hand viewing the display on the front of the Transporter from across the room. There is a helpful LMS plugin called "Lazy Search" that I loved for this back in the day.

They have Ethernet support so will work fine.

I think it can work without wifi/network with the DUET, but not sure it would work with the Transporter without WIFI. I use one (well, my wife uses it), but it is WIFI connected.

Out of interest, what do you run on the joggler to control the Transporter?

There is no difference. The server is sending the digital music via WiFi or Ethernet to the transporter. So OS of server is not relevant at all. use latest LMS 7.9. This used to be called slimserver, now LMS.
