    Search not working

After more years than I count of 100% trouble free usage, suddenly LMS search has stopped working. I recently updated the Mac from Mavericks to Sierra, which is the only possible cause I can think of.

I have tried updating LMS from 7.9.1 to 7.9.2, and doing a clean rescan of the music library, but search still won't work.

Any ideas how I can resolve this?

First of all: check server.log for any hints about about an error
happening when you do a search. And scanner.log for any issue during the
scan (in particular at the bottom).

If that doesn't give any hint, please provide more information:
(unfortunately) there are many ways to do searches which do behave
    differently. How do you search?

    Advance searching not working

    Hi

I have observed that Advanced Search does not work when the number of tracks in the database gets very large. Is this 'normal'?

    Thanks

Any errors in server.log or scanner.log? How large is "very large"? What
is your OS, hardware, LMS version etc.?

Thanks for your prompt reply, Michael.

Hardware: Raspberry Pi 4B with HifiBerry Dac+ Pro

    OS: Armbian

    Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 ľ 1564788734

    Number of tracks: 426,873

I do get an error message in the server log: [19-08-09 11:28:03.1513] Slim::Web::Template::SkinManager::_fillTemplate (337) Error: undef error - WHILE loop terminated (> 1000 iterations)

I have observed that Advanced Search works well with smaller number of tracks, but I am not sure what the precise threshold to cause it to stop working is.

    Thanks,

    Miguel

This admittedly is a large collection.

When would this happen? When you open the search page? When you run a
    search?

You wouldn't have more than 1000 genres, would you?

This happens when I click on 'Advanced Search'. The normal 'Search' function works well

Yes, I am afraid I do: I have 5,127 genres - I have not bothered to edit them, as I don't use genres very much - so they are the ones that came with the original recordings. Would that be the cause?
