It's because the file systems encoding schemes are not loaded by default. Load the extra file system support found on the LMS page. That's likely all you needed.....normally all the locale changing is not needed.

thanks for answering...

There is only a "Remove" button on the LMS/Install and enable additional filesystems page. Says "...FAT/vFAT/FAT32 ext2/3/4 are built-in to pCP by default...". I reckon that if there was no ext4 support, i wouldn't be able to mount my filesystem at all.

As for the Clock-Screensaver plugin... i read through the lua source and it seems to me, that pCP reads the OS time/date, which, using the date command shows correctly "Sat Dec 5 13:56:25 CET 2020". I'll read and check further later, have to go and watch Ireland playing Scotland for the third place in the Autumn Internationals ;-)

Yes, EXTx are included, but not all the nls modules are (native language support). Only iso8859-1 and cp437 are in the base image.

so, i removed the filesystems-tcz and reinstalled it, but that did not change the filenames. I also changed the codepage from de_DE.utf8 to en_GB.utf8 ($LANG is en_GB.utf8/UTF-8 now), but that did not help either.

The LMS Webpage shows the Artist's and Record's names correctly, by the way.

Do you have any other idea?

What is the file system? Is it networked based?

... it's an ext4 filesystem, chosen for compatibility with my linux boxes, for size (> 2TB) and to elude the filename limitations of the various DOSes.

I don't use special characters anywhere, but when I've don't limited testing with sample files, they normally work fine. You mentioned LMS is showing things correctly. So the only place its not correct is the shell?
