I've started a new thread for BBCiPlayer and BBCiPlayerEXtra in the hope users will not add to old topics/threads which are longer relevant, very long and make it hard to find solutuions.
This thread deal with BBCiPlayer 1.6 (and higher) and BBCiPlayerExtra 2.0 (and higher)
Install instructions;
* Open LMS Web UI - Settings / Plugins tab
* at bottom of Plugins tab find the box "Additional Repositories"
* Add the following repo URL to the "Additional Repositories" and click Apply
http://bpa-code.github.io/bpaplugins/betarelease-repo.xml
* LMS may need restarting.
* At bottom of Plugins tab - there should be a section "bpa - BBCiPlayer with BBC DASH support" with entries for BBCiplayer and BBCiPlayerExtra. Check the box on left hand side and click Apply.
* LMS may need restarting.
* If successful BBCiPlayer and BBCiPlayer plugins should appear in the "Active Plugins" list

Release notes for BBCiPlayer 1.6.2 & BBCiPlayerExtra 2.2.0
- Eliminate live stream start delay on Windows - requires LMS 7.9.1 July 2018 and later.
- Listen Again in HLS format works again thanks to mrw.
- Fix to displaying some characters in metadata (UTF8 handling error)
- Fix to stop the very many erroneous "Invalid Estimated delay" messages in log when live stream paused for more than 3 hours.
- Live Events & Cymru2 (no logo available) added to menus
- BBCiPlayerExtra - fixes playing podcast through Touch, Radio and other "new" client such as apps & Material but not longer shows picture when playing.
- BBCiPlayerExtra - Fix for parsing error for podcast on Windows.

- Many small changes provided by mrw such as remove repeated programmes, revert weekday format (i.e. no date), fixup icons, fixup bookmarking of series & fix missing duration on IP3K players "More Info".
- Change HLS playback to use HTTP 1.1. persistent connections which should reduce network load.
- Update to enable playing Listen Again in HLS (oct 18)
- Listen Again in HLS is broken again (403 forbidden) perhaps only for non UK (Nov 18)
- HLS and MP3 live stream now will show program metadata such as track info and program image (HLS & MP3 may be preferred for live streams due to v. small delay at start)
- Fix to reduce small pause in startup of DASH streams
- Fix to prevent "XXX mins delay" appearing incorrectly in program titles

- A number of small changes to provides access to additional BBC material which now come under "BBC Sounds" heading
- More genres in "Latest" menu
- A few more stations in A-Z indexs
- Podcast access organised & sorted by station and also by genre. Requires Podcast plugin to be enabled.Makes it easier to find program than using BBC Podcast feed in Podcast plugin.

1.6.1 Breaks UK Live Streams

Seems version 1.6.1 has broken the UK Live Streams.
This afternoon I updated from 1.6 and the streams have started to report 403 errors:

As a check, I manually reverted to 1.6 and the streams were OK, but failed again when returning to 1.6.1

No change in the URLs between 1.6.0 and 1.6.1
I made a change to reduce DASH live startup but I wonder if it is too cricitcal for UK 320kbps streams - doesn't explain the HLS 403 issue.
At least there is a fallback for the moment.
BTW what is your "Live stream preference" setting ?

It set to the default HLS > Dash > MP3 > FlashAAC > FlashMP3 and highest bitrate. Originally Posted by bpa

That makes me think the tweak I did to shorten DASH startup time maybe too short for UK streams (faster network response and faster stream pseed). Originally Posted by slartibartfast

DASH seems to work though. Why do you think the startup time is too short? I think I have delay set to zero as well. Originally Posted by bpa

My testing was with delay to zero - which should be the norm - problems system such as single core CPUs or some WIndows system needed bigger delays. Originally Posted by slartibartfast
The problem with 1.6.0 was that frequently with the delay setting at zero - there would be an unnecessary 5 sec delay added depending on arithmetic - I wonder if the fix has erred on the other side now occasionally asking for chunks not already broadcast.
