    Lost Gapless Playback of MP3

I recently found an odd issue with replay of MP3 files created in Audacity when using a 48KHz sample rate. After a bit of troubleshooting this turned out to be an issue on one particular Touch. No idea why as it's identical in every way to a second Touch that works. However, during the troubleshooting process I reset both to factory default. Now I find that MP3 will not play gapless on either Touch but are fine on a Radio & software players. Flac plays fine & nothing else has changed.

I can't find any setting within the Touch that would likely affect this so am a bit stumped. Crossfading is disabled in LMS (7.9.1).

    Any suggestions?

    Edit - Solved!
Funny how typing something out helps focus the mind. The DAC in my Arcam amp has a habit of cutting the start of a stream, so a while back I'd been experimenting with the Audio Startup Time in LMS. Turns out that this doesn't just create a delay when starting playback of an MP3 album/playlist but for every track!

    It happens:

Glad you sorted it. Maybe there should be a warning on that setting!

Thanks for that, I'd searched "gapless" so didn't find your thread.

Having just retested I can confirm that Audio Startup Time does indeed break 48KHz playback.

When did mp3 (not that I would ever use it) ever have gapless playback?

and many other players (foobar2000, etc.). Even my old ipod eventually got updated by apple so that it would play mp3 files gaplessly. It is true that in the old days, mp3 players rarely handled gapless. But times have changed.

It also depends on the encoder/decoder . Use lame then your safe .

But I’m getting old too maybe the oldest buggiest encoders are out of active use , but if you have an very old file it could have been done with bad encoder .
