Player not found

Having read many other threads... my problem is still not solved.. In short: I have a local server and a RaspberryPi (3) with piCorePlayer on it.

I have LMS 7.9 running on my own (local) server with Centos 7. I used to following guide to install this
forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?106138-George-s-HOWTO-guide-for-installing-Logitech-Media-Server-on-Centos-7-(also-RHEL-7)

and used this resource to download LMS
downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=7.9

Now LMS cant find the devices... I did setup piCorePlayer properly, and pointed towards my ip address with the right port. The two devices can also ping to eachother without any problem.
I have tried to setup the Pi over Wifi to connect to the LMS, and also via a ethernet cable... both with no luck so far...

I have restarted both devices to see if that did any good.. but no..

I tried to learn how to use the LMS command line (with TCP I assume), but I did not get that hang of that. Therefore, I feel at a loss now, I don't know where to look anymore.

At last.. here is the scanner.log output, if it can help..

The only strange thing that I havent resolved yet is this output of the server

[18-06-08 14:45:33.1520] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1252) Warning: [14:45:33.1513] ************************************************** *****************
Using the default of SSL_verify_mode of SSL_VERIFY_NONE for client
is deprecated! Please set SSL_verify_mode to SSL_VERIFY_PEER
possibly with SSL_ca_file|SSL_ca_path for verification.
If you really don't want to verify the certificate and keep the
connection open to Man-In-The-Middle attacks please set
SSL_verify_mode explicitly to SSL_VERIFY_NONE in your application.

If anyone can help with that, ... then that would be nice as well. However, I dont think solving that problem will fix the 'Player not found' issue

Hi,

is your problem player not found or server not found?

Player not found i would call that if one player is not found others are
Server not found should be no player can connect to lms...

check with another system and squeezelite or the plugin called localplayer what kind of problem you got.

scanner.log has just the log of file scan and database creation - not LMS startup & connection to players etc.

look at server.log for non database errors.

Player(s) and lms server on the same network and server subnet ?

Example ipĺs like 192.168.0.x and 192.168.0.y 255.255.255.0 is common for a simple home network.

The prerequisite ports are open 3483 udp/tcp for playerdiscovery etc and 9000 for the web-UI

You may have to ise whatever tool your linux distro needs to make these firewall rules.

This covers 99% of our can not connect problems

Yeah both are running on the same network, since both are plugged in via an ethernet cable.

I used to following commands to configure the firewall properly

firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=9000/tcp --permanent
firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=3483/tcp --permanent
firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=3483/udp --permanent
firewall-cmd --reload

So that should be set correctly as well...

I am unsure how to differentiate between 'server not found' and 'player not found' in DjanGO's response... but I'll check if I can make sure if I am able to connect to the LMS via a different way and see what pops up there.

Ah I see.. I have downloaded SoftSqueeze (http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/download.html) for my Ubuntu laptop... and now Im trying to connect to my server but it hangs on

"Please Wait, Connecting to Slim Server"

So.... I think it is a server not found issue. But since the piCorePlayer CAN ping to the (LMS) server, it is not the case that they are on a different network.. so could it be a router problem?? Even though I like linux and command line work (and have done some work in it), I dont know how to check or set this correctly. Can you help maybe?

Have you disabled the firewall or created a rulle to let squeezeboxes connect ?

Edit: Just read the howto so it would seem that the rules are in the firewall but I would try temporarily disabling firewalld just to be sure

Oh dang... I found the issue... This is really silly... (as expected actually)...

But in the PiCorePlayer settings, I gave the full ip-address WITH port number.. and apparantly it cannot deal with that. So once I removed the port number everything went fine.

Thanks for the help guys

In PCP if you only have one LMS on the network I would leave no entry in server IP and let it autodiscover the LMS
