    Questions about Spotty Settings

Hi all – I am long time squeezebox player owner and LMS user, but am using LMS 7.9.2 and Spotty 2.3.5 for the first time (newly installed on an HP Spectre 360 running Windows 10 Home)
Everything fired up easily (I used the “auto connect” method through “available devices” in the Spotify windows app to set Spotty up.) I have some questions about the Spotty functionality, which have probably been discussed in one of these forums, but I can’t find an answer by searching.

Thanks to Michael Herger for his continuing and tireless work on all things Squeezebox!

1 – I don’t see the equivalent of the “recently played” list that was in the Triode Spotify plugin – when Spotty first opened, it did display a list of albums I would have played in the Spotify app a while ago, but that list did not update with the several albums I have since played in Spotty. Is there a way to have a “recently played” list, and/or make the “albums” and “artist” list update with each new selection I play? There is the equivalent of Triode’s “recently searched” in Spotty, as my recently searched titles do appear below the new search box.

2 – I also note that in the “playlists” category, only one of the “suggested” playlists Spotify creates for me is shown – but in the Spotify app there are 6 or 7 “daily playlists” for me. Is there a way to make all of these display?

3 – in one of the LMS Spotty settings for each player, the box for “Enable Spotify Connect Endpoint for this player” is checked – does that have any effect after Spotty is installed?

4 – in my early exploration of the Spotty settings, I saw some settings I can no longer find – things like whether Spotify starts again at the same track after a power off and on – where are those settings? They don’t appear to be under the Spotty “settings” link shown under “plug-ins”.

    Thanks for any assistance!

The API provided by Spotify only lists items played through their apps, but not what you play through LMS. OTOH an implementation local to Spotty would not show what you played using the official app. I'd have to somehow merge them - which sounds like a lot of trouble.

The Daily playlists aren't playlists (from a technical point of view), but a media type the library I'm using (librespot) can't deal with yet. The same applies to podcasts, and other "playlists" which would update while you played them.

I'm not sure I understand your question. That feature would expose your SB as a Spotify Connect endpoint, allowing you to use the Spotify apps to control playback on the SB. You still need Spotty and LMS, of course.

hmm... not sure what feature you refer to. Maybe it's something you remember from Triode's plugin? Or some generic LMS setting, rather than Spotty's?

Thanks Michael for your thorough reply. Re your above answer, I am fairly sure that the "recently played" list i remember from the Triode plugin version of Spotify on LMS was generated solely by what i listened to through LMS - ie i don't normally bother with choosing favorites or making playlists in Spotify, and LMS/Triode was the primary way i listened to Spotify for about 2 years - i.e. I am sure I accessed the "recently played" list in LMS/Triode hundreds of times to find a Spotify album i had listened to the week previous. But let me ask a different but possibly related question - what is supposed to be listed under Home>Spotty>Artists, and Home>Spotty>Albums?

On the new install of LMS 7.9.2 and Spotty the other day, in the categories Home>Spotty>Artists there were\are about 8 existing artists i have listened to in the past, displayed in that list, and under Home>Spotty>Albums all of the Spotify albums of those artists also appear. So this is like a "recently played" list, except i never played that list of artists on the current install of LMS/Spotty. I don't know where that list came from - it is only a small sample of the Spotify artists/albums i have listened to in the Spotify web application, phone app and through LMS/Triode, and i would not likely have saved them as favorites or a playlist anywhere. So why/how is Spotty listing them now? Thanks!
