Sending an eMail message after certing server actions, e.g. Scanner finished.

    Hi there,

I am thinking about a way of getting an eMail via the systems mailer telling me that a certain server actions has finished.
Taking the example that a library scans has stopped:
How would I get that working if that feature already exists? How would I have to implement that (where to start)?

    Thanks in advance.

For server plugins, there is a event subscribe API function (so you could call your script directly from it after receiving the event). For external clients, you have subscription with cometd and telnet, and polling via JSON/RPC, http and telnet.
