For people interested in Classical one obvious choice is Britten's War Requiem which uses intermingles Latin texts with WWI war poems by Wilfred Owen.
I was a teenager when it it was premiered in 1962 and remember the unique excitement it created at the time.
Incidentally, in the spirit of reconciliation Britten intended that the three soloists for the premier should be Galina Vishnevskaya (Russian), Peter Pears (English) and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (German) but the Soviet authorities stopped Vishnevskay attending.Touch, Meridian G92, Bryston B4 SST2, PMC OB1i speakers, HP Proliant Microserver/Ubuntu, PC/Windows 7, iPad 4, iPeng, Squeezepad.
