In many apps a develope key is usually embedded in the app and users never see it nor can change it. LMS plugins are unusual in that the plugin is in clear text and the key is easily read. Not sure about Radioplayer but a key per app implementation can cause problem as apps can be monitored through the developer key and if an app misbehaves (e.g. makes too many request per min) - all userrsof the key can get locked out until developer fix the app or time period expires - this doesn't fit well with LMS as thirds parties can tweak plugins without recourse to developer.

This single developer key per app make me reluctant to develop a plugin.

From API doc " You can apply for API Access / keyfiles by emailing contact@radioplayer.co.uk" and "All requests to the API will need to be signed with a private keyfile which Radioplayer will issue end-users with, as well as an apiKey."

Is there any Radioplayer plugin for LMS?

Thanks, makes sense. (I've sent a mail a few hours ago - for which I
    haven't received any response yet)

I also asked about key in open source and am expecting the answer to be that it would not be allowed.
Hence my comment that it would have to be in some sort of external service - which would then act as a sort of proxy for the API calls.

Did you also ask about the "pricing" ?

Do vendors like Sonos pay Radioplayer to use the API ?

I did hear back that the key must be kept private - so should not be embedded in open source code (like LMS plugin).
