CD Player - no CD in drive

Hi, I installed CD player plugin, I have it in both Squeezecenter and Controller, but when I try to play a CD I get message: Error loading CD index - (-1) No CD in drive' ... Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks

System details always help including version of OS, SC and CDplayer installed ?

More info on the problem can also help
    1. What type of CD - commercial CD, own CD, CD with data content etc.
    2. Does the same error appear in WebUI if using the Controller ? or vice versa.
    3. If Linux/Ubuntu - does the squeezecenter user id have permission to access CD drive ?

Also a log may help - use WebUI Settings/Advanbcxed/Logging and set plugin.cdplayer to DEBUG. NOte time and then try to load a CD and then copy all message in server log file from notes time.

Hi, I'm on WinXP, SC 7.3.2, CDplayer v1.06b2_7.3. I'm just trying to play a standard audio CD - my system can see the drive and I'm able to play it via WMP or Foobar... In CDplayer settings in SC I have "CD-ROM Device description on Windows - Unassigned".. I get the error message in both Controller and SC... Note sure about the log, but maybe it's this:

As currently setup - CDplayer has not been assigned a CD drive. Usually finds one at startup but it looks like it failed for some reason.

Do you have more than one CD/DVD driver ?

In the Plugin CDPlayer settings - In the drop down box with ""CD-ROM Device description on Windows - Unassigned" are there any other choices - or is the "unassigned" the only option ?

I had a virtual CD/DVD-ROM in system, I switched it off for now, so have only one CD/DVD drive, restarted SC, but get the same message. There are no other options in the CDplayer plugin settings, only unassigned...

edit: tried to reinstall the plugin now, didn't help...

Can you run the following command from a command prompt window. You will need to change directory to the Plugin directory which has the cdda2wav.exe program.

    cdda2wav -scanbus

That's good - it means the CD drive is seen - I don't know why the plugin didn't find the drive name as it uses the "removable CD" string to identify the usable drives.

To find the problem, can you try the following.

    1. In SC WebUI Settings/Advanbced/Logguing set plugin.cdplayer to DEBUG and check the "Save logging settings for use at next application restart" box before clicking Apply.
    2. Note the location of the prefs directory (see WebUI Settings/Information)
    3. Stop SC
    4. Delete the CDplayer prefs file cdplayer.prefs in the plugin subdirectory of the prefs directory noted in step 2.
    6. Start SC.
    7. Examine server.log and copy entries from the recent SC startup - this should have CDplayer log message processing the "-scanbus" list of drive.

For some reason, the code is not finding your CD drive - I'll need to run tests using the "scanbus" output you provided to see if I can reproduce the problem.
