Bringing this one back to life as I think there is a MAC user facing the same problem.

Can someone write down the correct way to install the needed components on OS/X ?

(In this particular case the user has LMS 7.9.0 running on a MAC and is not able to see song titles when using my RadioFrance plugin and I suspect it is because one of the metadata sources now redirects to https)

Install macOS. That's all you need to do :-). I never had to think about
IO::Socket::SSL on my various Macs. It's installed by default.

You could use Slim::Networking::Async::HTTP->hasSSL() in your plugin to
figure out whether SSL was supported or not.

But as I said, this shouldn't be a problem on Mac.
