Display Problem
So it seems that there are many instances of display problems! Mine has not quite gone blank, but is barely visible - so bad it is not clear to see the settings!
Also I have the problem mentioned by many, that there seems to be a dodgy connection to the power input socket. If I wiggle the connector, I can get it to stay on, but any movement, and it disconnects.
Like others, I am not technical enough to trouble shoot electronics - I can't even figure how to open the unit! Looks like a special tool is required.
Any thoughts for someone located in Ireland to have my unit fixed?

I suggest PM JoeMuc2009 - he is based in Germany , repairs SB - See https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...-SB3-(Classic)
There are Irish specialist electronic repair but you may need to handhold (supply links to forum re disassembly) and even then may just Boom in worse condition.

These blog articles might help you but I'm available for repair if you find you don't want to do this yourself:
A) Display replacement procedure including opening the Boom case:
https://joes-tech-blog.blogspot.com/2016/06/logitech-squeezebox-boom-vfd-display.html
B) Another reason for poor display performance is a weakness in the display power supply circuitry, described here, including how to fix it:
https://joes-tech-blog.blogspot.com/...isplay_30.html
Display replacement (A) is 96 EUR flat + shipping. If you want to have only the internal display power supply fixed (B), that would be 15 EUR. If the display is replaced and this fix is needed, the fix is included in the 96 EUR fee.
I can also try to repair issue B so the display is fully supplied again. That will enable us to assess the display state and figure out whether it's worthwhile replacing it.
Cheers,
joe

Just logging in to say thanks for the soldering step by step solution. My son's Boom works again like a charm (and he's happy
